Since I’ve been MIA lately, here’s an update! I completely blame deer. Trying so hard to get a good deer this year, and they keep out smarting me!

Back in 1973-1977 I was on active duty in the USMC. Ended up as a Sergeant E-5. It was people like you especially with that southern accent that I could really rely on to get the job done.

That’s what I admire so much about you and your dad. It’s not just about harvesting for eating but conservation. The balance of the species. Saving crops and all the hard work that goes into cultivating the land for crops. It’s hard work, but y’all are right there in step with it. Keep your eyes open, that buck is not too far.

It always makes my day seeing your beautiful smiling face, Hannah! We appreciate y'all right back! BTW, I put out a game feeder instead of dumping the corn all over the ground and I program it to feed more times during hunting season. The squirrels, raccoons, foxes, birds etc carry off all of the corn here instead of feral hogs (we don't have any in Ky.). I gave up using attractant scents long ago because where I hunt, the older bigger bucks are wary of them and they always avoid them.

Those hogs are really unbelievable but you know what's even more unbelievable?? Beer nuts are now $3.99 a pound but luckily deer nuts are still under a Buck!

My 1 st comment since I subscribed. Watching you cook up a fryer full of catfish makes my mouth water. We use to go fishing in Canada and always had a freezer full of fish. Now it's store bought fish, never the same. If your ever in central Illinois, drop by with some fresh catfish. Would appreciate it.

Believe or not, today my neighbors gave me some deer steaks some minutes ago. A deer rancher hunted one and gave them the entire deer!
I'll cook them this weekend.

I cleared the hogs off my property using a cell game camera and a small portable horse corral that had a remote control closer. Put the corn in it for two nights and left it open. The 3rd night when all hogs were in I remotely closed the gate. Problem solved. A little too late for you AL folks right now with it being the last days of the deer season, but maybe it can help get them under control for next year.
Drill the bottom of a bucket with 1/8 inch holes and suspend it from a limb so the pigs can't get at it. Glad your back.

Hogs. Good for keeping my aim sharp and freezer meat of last resort in case I don't get a deer. But dear Lord, they're shoulder blades could double as tank armor. Anyway, hope you get a bruiser buck, Hannah!

Deer Hunting is the best time of year. Now it's Coyotes, hunting all night, skinning during the day, catching on some sleep. You hunt from a stand, try still hunting through the day. I have seen Big Bucks out during mid-day. The Big Ones got that way by switching patterns and hunters need to switch also. Good Luck, God Bless
