  • Welcome to another video from North Coast Workshop.
    In this video I'm going to be replacing my Revision D diverter valve with a GFB DV+ version and seeing what difference it makes to my Seat Leon Cupra R. Whether I will notice any performance gains or just better driveability.
    My revision D diverter valve has no issues currently, although this version is normally swapped out for a newer and improved revision G version on these engines. But I've gone for the GFB DV+ and fitting it instead.
    For a video on switching to a revision G version, and the noticeable improvements found, check out Himi's video in link below -

    Enjoyed the video, interesting seeing how the GFB dv+ fits together onto the stock DV, good to hear the throttle response is better 🙏🏼 and thanks for the shout-out 👌🏼

      No bother at all mate, cheers for taking the time to watch the vid. We'll see long term how this DV+ holds up. Keep up the great content 🔥👍🏻

    I got one on my Ford Ranger. They are awesome, really helps with the response after letting up and back down on the accelerator.

      I have found this also to be the same for my car. Definitely works very well 👌🏻

      I use a JB4 Piggyback Tuner with Diagnostic logging tools. It really smooths out the power curves. The boost arc on the stock graphs had peaks and valleys on the way up. Now it gets to the shift points more linear. With immediately response through each gear. You don't get to show the pretty dyno graph bumps to your friends one time. You feel the difference every second of the day. It may not be the first mod to get. It certainly is more fun benefit then spending $400 US on a intake which usually give you nothing but more engine noise at stock figuration. I believe it even adds to the mpg's a bit depending. I can't really tell since I am either stopped. or at 5500 rpms. On my way to just about anywhere these days.

    Hello,
    Im thinking of buying this diverter valve. Did you mention more boost ? And how is the sound? Is it louder then the stock one?

    • @NorthCoastWorkshop
      @NorthCoastWorkshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The GFB DV+ won't increase boost, all you may notice is increased throttle response between gear changes. It should be able to handle more boost if you plan on getting the car remapped, and then you'll be able to hear more intake noises also.
      If you want hear more intake/DV noises currently, a large induction kit like Revo will help 👍🏻

    Hi just changed from a GFB DV+ to the VTA as I was getting to much recirc air to the compressor at stage2+ on my golf Mk6R .
    The DV+ VTA part# T9451, stops the compressor flutter and surge during throttle lift off and for the dsg at least it is only audible during a throttle lift and the noise is not as much as expected .
    Well worth it for those with EA113 DSG .
    My Turbo bearing is thanking me already 😆

      Cheers for leaving the informative comment Richard. I think I remember seeing u mention this on a Facebook post possibly, or someone wrote something similar.
      Yeah the flutter is quite excessive, and ur option sounds like a very good substitute. I'm by no means a sales rep for GFB 😂 but currently still enjoying it and the car is still too, and hopefully that continues safely anyway,😂🤞🏻
      Cheers again 😊👍🏻

      Depending on how your boost and tune is, there's a case to be made for VTA swaps. Most owners should keep the factory design. Modern vehicle MAP sensors are counting on that air you just dumped all over the neighborhood to sound cool. It will cause problems down the road without proper tuning. I have a recirculating valve in the 2022 Ranger. It sounds off a primal hiss on WOT, with a awesome Blow off woosh that resonates from the Afe Rapid induction Intake. To me it is better than dusting off the engine bay every 2 seconds.

    I rlly want one seeing your video😤 but do you which part spec to pick I have mk5 gti because I don’t belive they are all the same on the website

    • @NorthCoastWorkshop
      @NorthCoastWorkshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah they do differ slightly. I think the Mk5 GTi had the Ko3 turbo, so the diverter valve is down the back of the engine attached to the turbo. GFB should have one available for the Ko3 turbo too, if you search for it. Or you could email GFB directly to see if they have a part number? Thank you for watching 👍🏻

    Hey would you say the gfb dv+ months on from this video is still the better option for an upgrade?

    • @NorthCoastWorkshop
      @NorthCoastWorkshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It still works perfectly since the day I installed it. I am planning a '12 months of use' update vid, to check it, see if it's still lubricated, and moving freely etc.
      If ur going from a revision D, this GFB or a revision G standard diverter, will both do an excellent job. There's meant to be science behind why this is better, but I can't say if it is for sure.
      Hope that helps, cheers for watching 👍🏻

      @@NorthCoastWorkshop I actually don’t even know what’s in my mk5 gti I just bought it and will do the diverter valve, pcv valve and can follower but the diverter valves are really puzzling me, then I’m torn between rev d and rev g but I’ll be mapping my car to stage 1 so would like this changed first as I’d say mine hasn’t been changed in a while ☺️ great video, the 12 months in update would be great

    • @NorthCoastWorkshop
      @NorthCoastWorkshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jasonseery4885 you'll see on the diverter valve a part number stamped somewhere, and the last letter represents the version. So D is the update from the C, and I think G is the current update, and best. Tfsi experts R-tech always recommend the G, but a genuine GFB I think does no harm either (there's loads of copycat versions that fail). Good your getting it all sorted, check the part number next time ur under the car, and get an upgrade if you've got a version C or D, but then up to you what u decide to upgrade to I'm afraid 😁

    Hey i already got a HKS Blow off Valve installed on my car and i also considering install this DV, do you recommend to combine a BOV and a DV or should i remove the BOV? Thanks 👍

    • @NorthCoastWorkshop
      @NorthCoastWorkshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think they can only be fitted if the other is removed first. Some engines prefer having the diverter valve, as they expect the air to be kept inside the intake system, whereas the BOV dumps the air into the atmosphere, and sometimes causes running issues.
      So yeah I'd recommend fitting the DV by itself, and see if you notice some improvements.
      I did a follow up video 12 months after this one

    Awesome car, i just got myself a cupra r -2013 with stage 1 310hp and open air kit.
    but when i push full throttle i sounds like the bov makes some "psssst"noice and let go off pressure before i realese the throttle.
    Do you think the bov i the problem here? because i think i got the verision D, bcuz it has never been changed since 2013.
    Sorry, me English isnt the best :-)

    • @NorthCoastWorkshop
      @NorthCoastWorkshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It could be the issue if it's the older version. The newer revision G is meant to be the best.
      BOV (blow off valves) valves don't work very well on these engines, the TFSI engine prefers any excess boost to be recirculated, through he revision G diverter valve or these GFB divert valves.
      Simply though, if you feel like you are getting a good surge of power/boost when you need it, then your setup is performing fine. The noises are more noticeable if you have the open air kits, I hear mine all the time.
      I did a follow up video not long ago, if you need more info ➡️ th-cam.com/video/-YVJ_dt2SrI/w-d-xo.html

    Without sounding stupid would this be the same on the mk2 fr non cupra?

    • @NorthCoastWorkshop
      @NorthCoastWorkshop  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not stupid at all in asking mate, as I'm not 100% sure.
      You can check a list of cars this is available for on their website.
      I imagine yours is a 2.0 TFSI around 200 bhp? I believe they still have the KO3 turbo, so if that's the case your Diverter Valve will be situated on the turbo itself round under the back of the engine which is a bit awkward to get to.
      But yeah, should be the same style, but maybe check GFB's fitment guide to be sure 👍🏻

  • @enhanceduk4642

    Looks like you had a boost leak also. Your boost requested and actual should almost be identical

    • @NorthCoastWorkshop
      @NorthCoastWorkshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yeah that's what I had thought too when I saw the graphs. Possibly the old DV was leaking slightly. Had a smoke test and system health check before my stage 1 and tuner said fortunately everything was working spot on, and had above average power output for standard, so very relieved! 😂

      Totally agree eM, I know I hear mixed msgs on them, but the technology behind how it works, and my 1st experience with it, concludes it's a good choice for an upgrade 👍🏻
