    I remember how it felt to be a young working millennial, and having all of those articles printed about me, saying that my generation was lazy and entitled, and we were killing industries. News articles talked about us, but nobody talked to us. I think we should be empowering our youth. We should be giving them guidance in their jobs and careers to help them become independent and self-sufficient.

    Honestly every generation assumes the younger one is lazy. It is incredibly irritating as they seem to forget how this judgement was passed upon themselves when they were the same age.

    Gen-Xer, here: I don't think Gen-Z is lazy. I think Gen-Z became aware of their worth, within the context of COVID. Other industrialized countries take into account "Quality of Life," for their employees. This includes, vacation time, parental leave, continual education funds, etc., and employees become loyal for that.
    However, in the United States, bosses may give you a couple of weeks vacation a year, but employees are pressured into not taking more than a few days at a time, and even then they're expected to check emails.
    Gen-Z pulled a reverse "Atlas Shrugged" and said, "No, I'm not gonna do that." Bosses take note: appreciate the worth of talented employees.

      All of these demands cost money so we should expect higher prices or taxes to pay for what is demanded. Perhaps though what we seeing is the result of a tight labor market and that when the recession comes some of the nonsense that is being excused presently will no longer need to be tolerated.

    The whole "Gen Z is ..." construct is garbage. Some are ambitious and others are lazy; the same applies to all groups. The "lazy" tag typically comes up when young staffers are asked to do a hard or boring or tedious task. Sure, it's easy to get active when you get to be the CEO, but almost nobody in your generation gets to be CEO; be your generation Z or boomer. If Gen Z can't work hard unless they are in charge, there is going to be a lot of unhappiness. Throughout time, the older people tend to be in charge. It's fine to have "different patterns", but when your pattern for "Boss says do X" doesn't produce X, then that's going to cause unhappiness on both sides.

  • @SoCalFreelance
    @SoCalFreelance ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Gen Z are too lazy to even defend themselves properly. They should mention the purchasing power of the dollar is just a fraction of what previous generations have enjoyed. A single man's salary used to be able to provide for an entire family. That while wages have remained stagnant inflation has skyrocketed making daily living expenses for Gen Z very difficult. That previous generations have been living large on reckless out of control deficit spending on things like endless wars and defense spending. And that previous generations have abused the privilege our nation having global reserve currency status through arbitrary sanctions and cutting of nations from SWIFT and now nations have had enough and are de-dollarizing because of it which will make everything worse. That policymakers have allowed major manufacturing sectors to migrate overseas gutting the American middle class. That policymakers have gutted regulation that was in place to protect consumers. That policymakers have allowed housing to become a get rich quick financial instrument making home ownership financially impossible for Gen Z. This is a generation that is living paycheck to paycheck more so than any generation before it. They have to do side hustles to make ends meet. They have collectively lost millions in crypto and NFT scams. They have zero savings, no pensions, and almost certainly won't have social security. ~ Perspective of a Gen X
