@@QuangNguyen-ng5zhAnd the AO was won by Schiavone and the following year Stosur won the USO.
Random players like Rezai and Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez won WTA 1000 titles in Rome and Madrid and then faded away into obscurity.

The QF, SF, & F rounds were such battles, but not even the blazing sun from Down Under could stop her. Serena was determined to defend her AO title. The only time she did so. If only '15-17 was a hat-trick like '12-14 USO.

Serena the GOAT greatest athlete to ever play tennis male or female

How can she be the greatest athlete if she’s not the greatest tennis player? Graf, Navratilova, Court and Evert all have highly superior stats to Serena in almost every respect.
Based on achievements and stats, Graf is the standout GOAT.

Few tournaments are more representative of why Serena is the GOAT than the 2010 AO.

Agreed! One of, if not the most clutch tournament of her career!

@@fundhund62 What? She played Kvitova and Stosur who were only one year away from their first majors, she beat Azarenka and Na who were only a couple years way from becoming multi-slam winners, and finally Henin, who won 7. And on top of that she was injured for the majority of the tournament.

@@fundhund62 And Serena played in the strongest era of women’s tennis EVER. She changed the game (along with Venus) with her mic of unbelievable power and athleticism. No one could touch Serena in HISTORY with her level shown in 2002-2003 and 2012-2013.

@@fundhund62 I can see from other comments of yours that you seem to hold a prejudice against really good black players, so I won’t even attempt to sway your opinion, but the fact that you think Serena couldn’t “hold a candle” to Graf and Hingis, players she beat YEARS from her prime, just shows you have some deluded cloud of ignorance that looms over you.

Azarenka didn’t even play bad serena just raised her level completely, GOAT stuff🐐

Azarenka played extremely well. She would have beaten almost anyone that day. Serena is just so mentally tough and highly skilled. Her game is multi faceted which allows her to change gears in a match

3:37 Truer statements have never been said. I love the incredulousness in the female commentator's response of even thinking Serena was going to lose the match.

      it was!
Rennae had seen Serena ‘come back from the dead’, rewriting the outcome of the match so many times in the previous eleven years - nearly every time by hitting dozens of winners to escape.
Serena struck a total 58 winners to Azarenka's grand total of 22 in this match. She spent most of the first set and and half hitting tentatively, not sharp enough to make all of the necessary footwork around the ball to use the full extension on her forehand. When her back was against the wall, Serena had no choice but to end the points with winning shots.
so, of course, Rennae absolutely /knew/ that Serena was not ‘done’ in any grand slam match, completely regardless of the score line …..

Azarenka 2 slams don't justify her level during 2010s

    • @akizaizinskii

2 Slams is enough for her. She didn’t have a high peak, had a pretty weak serve and was not very athletic.
