Azarenka played extremely well. She would have beaten almost anyone that day. Serena is just so mentally tough and highly skilled. Her game is multi faceted which allows her to change gears in a match

She spent most of the first set and and half hitting tentatively, not sharp enough to make all of the necessary footwork around the ball to use the full extension on her forehand. When her back was against the wall, Serena had no choice but to end the points with winning shots. so, of course, Rennae absolutely /knew/ that Serena was not ‘done’ in any grand slam match, completely regardless of the score line …..
