- Looking through some 78RPM records I found at a local charity shop. I paid £11 (about the price of 3 or 4 cups of coffee) - but did I get a good deal? Let me know in the comments! Thanks 😀👍

Mr. Graham missed the opportunity to call himself a Grahamophone Specialist.
Indeed, the though late Graham Barber did have a gramophone collecting/restoring website which was similarly named. Thanks 😀 👍
Super fun video! Thanks for taking us along!
Thanks 😀 👍
Interesting vid as usual, love the Fratton Bridge bag, my old stomping ground .
Same here.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks 😀 👍
Toons by billy Merrin and his commanders I’ve found are usually pretty good. The ones I’ve got are, great clean crown sleeves also 👏👏
Good to know. Thanks 😀 👍
Crown was a Woolworths label, sold for 6 old pence! Great that you have near pristine original sleeves. Also note that some bike shops started selling gramophones & records. Guess that bike servicing skills were easily transferrable to gramophones. Good to see charity shops sell 78's. One time, it was considered inadvisable to donate surplus 78's to charity shops, as they wouldn't sell & would end up in a skip. This seems to be changing.
I think charity shops are still a bit of a mixed bag. Probably also depends on who is on duty. I have taken some to charity shops, but am still looking to find other ways to dispose of my surplus. I am still finding job lots in the wild, so it seems there are plenty out there still! 😅. Thanks 😀 👍
@@mrrgstuff And, in my experience, they're getting cheaper. Us 'old school' collectors are a dying breed & so few new young ones are taking our place. Not many these days have the experience to know what's valuable. What else can you buy for a pound or two that may be over 100 years old?
Yes indeed. I've recently bought 2 more collections of records. One probably put together back in the day, but the other one looks like a curated collection put together much more recently. There will be videos in the not too distant future, hopefully. Thanks 😀 👍
Wow, cool records 😁👍
Thanks 😀 👍
Very cool 👍

i reckon thats worth ya money 😎 cool video 👌
Thanks 😀 👍. I've picked up some more records recently, so there will be lots more to look through 😅
wow i reckon that was worth the money 😎 also with some lovely sleeves 👍 every time ive brought a crown record they never have a wrapper ☹ you got some good finds mate! 😎😎👍
Unusual to see Crown sleeves, I agree. Records seem to show up in all sorts of conditions, from heavily worn and very mouldy to virtually pristine. I forgot to mention in the video, but the crown records themselves looked pristine, too! Thanks 😀 👍
@@mrrgstuff thanks for the info mate😎 have a good one 👍👍
@mrrgstuff I got some Crown sleeves recently when buying some 78s from my local record shop.
Not the most attractive of sleeves but nice to have all the same.
I have some Lewis's sleeves too.
I purchased some Columbia medium tone needles in original tin, from an antique shop in Wallingford laat weekend when attending a music festival there.
I would have bought some of the records you purchased. Possibly the Crown ones.
Yes, I think I prefer the dealer sleeves as there is so much interesting history on some of them. Thanks 😀 👍
totally a good deal 👍
Thanks 😀 👍
😁👍
I have a thrones soundbox n15 primaphonic . And the stuff that hold the needle on it broke . So i need to change the sound box and have no idea what to buy or where to buy it from. I saw the blue soundbox in one of your videos that i liked but couldnt find online. Can you tell me where you get your soundboxes from ? Thanks
@user-xi8ew9gu9d That blue soundbox looks quite modern, but is from the 1950s. I think it was made by Goldring, but I'm not 100% sure. I don't know if it would fit your gramophone. You might find this video helpful:

Most of my soundboxes have come from Ebay or already fitted to gramophones I have bought. One option would be to look out on ebay for something similar to what you have. Hope that helps, and good luck. 👍 😀
Too bad you can't play them, instead of just 'yacking' about them 😒
