Olive oil is a chemical too. Everything around us is a chemical. Shampoo, conditioner and hair creams are good for your hair. They're designed specifically for that purpose.

Sooo i think I can safely say that our moms, not entirely their fault, simply didn't know how to care for our hair because EVERY black girl should have had hair like your beautiful daughter! This is such a silly and uneducated statement. Do you think every other race has a magic 'secret' regimen where they rely on external concoctions and specific manipulation to grow hair? No, if you have to stand on your head and do cartwheels in order for you to keep hair on your head, it is the exception, not the rule.

Her hair is beautiful. As black ppl we were told that water wasn't good for our hair, don't get your hair wet meanwhile it's what should have been said was pls wet your hair.
They only say that because water causes shrinkage and messes up perms.
4c hair needs water because our hair falls out when it's dry.

What she is doing works for them. I hate to see videos like this and people get on and comment about adding heat or cutting as a must. Growing up, we had hair that was well taken care of and long. Trimming never took place and our hair thrived with either cornrows for 2-3 weeks or air dry (with plaits) or a roller set for a week.
That makes so much sense because it says our hair grows half an inch a month that's an inch in two months yet say cut ends every 6 to 8 weeks basically all the hair you just grew you end up cutting right back off. Thanks for the info

1. First item you need is water for your hair.
2. Oil
3. If your hair knotted, use your hands and take time to unravel the knot without breaking it. Use oil too.
4. Use shampóo and use a plastic bag to kéep moisture in.
5. When hair is dry, wet with water.
6. Moisturizer -water, shea butter, oil, moisturizer, cream.
7. Separate hair in sections when manipulating hair.

The key to long healthy hair is being gentle, moisture and protecting it. Keep the ingredients simple and natural as possible.
Absolutely....I do not agree with hair relaxers, weave of any type to include braids, and dye on little girls hair. The hair will grow with patience and simple products. This baby's hair is well taken care of. Keep up the good work mom!

When I was 8, I could tuck my braids under my arm pits. Then I asked for a perm because I hated how long I had to sit getting washed and then next day after air dry to press and curl. I'm natural again now wish I never had permed. I am back to shoulder length after big chop and looking forward to this. Her hair is beautiful❤😊

Techniques- correct method of handling.
Time- years.
Once we learn and understand these principles we should have no problem with retention.
Remember hair is always growing. Its biology. As long as you're alive, your hair will grow.

I would like to also share, I believe the reason for ongoing hair dryness has a lot to do with certain other factors, but one key ingredient is the liquid and products that we apply to our scalp, for instance, the water we use can be “hard water” which in some cases creates more dryness for the hair/scalp.
I agree, a water/liquid substance is very much needed + oil + a moisturizer which could enhance hair strands from dryness.
As you mentioned, we have to be very careful how and what we are applying. (Even to regarding how to nourishes our ends)
So, .. (to be correct), ..your process consists of:
1) Wash and Condition (with braided hair), once completed…
2) USE HANDS to separate braids gently by spraying with water, ( I would apply natural water/spring water + olive oil)
3) Place plastic bag over damp hair, (approximately within one hour)
4) Remove the bag to style in gentle sections with a moisturizer. (Use comb for parting hair only and not for combing)
