Thank you for this video about these two colourful characters from the past. I also remember them as a presence, but without specific memories. What I would say is that there were a lot of great entertainers like Hinge and Bracket during the '70s and '80s who, in many ways, were more daring and adventurous in their acts than performers these days. They felt motivated to push the boundaries as far as they could and challenge societal conventions. Now, many performers seem to be shrinking further and further back, afraid of who they might offend, to the point where their comedy can feel anaemic.
I've always felt it could be a mixed bag with the 70s and 80s acts. Some have not aged well at all, but others are timeless, and ALWAYS raise a laugh when I see their performances again. Hinge & bracket were one of those acts, for me .. timeless.
@RetroSpectives I agree. Not all acts have aged well, and some deserve to stay in the past, but I'm so often struck by how refreshing performers from previous decades can feel. As you say, timeless.
Honestly, I thought they were a couple of old ladies when I was a kid. How naive I was. 😂 If Hinge and Bracket were still around today, they'd definitely be part of a "community" 😊

I knew what they were and they were utterly brilliant I miss them so much
Yes, me too. It's horrible when we lose our old favourites. 😔

If I'm honest, I can't actually remember if I thought they were ladies or not - I think that part of my memory is gradually wiping itself. 🤣
@RetroSpectives 🤣 It was a happy memory for me, thank you. 👍
