Clearly PT doesn't have the locker room support. Guys don't seem to play hard for him. Hank Brown got more production and effort from the same receivers.
Darrell brought up a good point. Guys who struggled with drops magically started catching passes when Hank got in. I notice often that Thorne's ball placement is inconsistent. Guy's have to almost turn arounds to catch routine passes.
Brown was way better and the whole offense seemed alive unlike with Thorne

Geriner & Hank both looked more comfortable in the pocket than PT
Freeze said early on he wanted the kids to have a great time and be relaxed...mission accomplished. Hope everyone had a nice vacation and can come back to Auburn refreshed after that ass kicking. Note: poor messaging. Rant over. Hoping 2024 is better.
Freeze still has a lot to learn. Anointing Thorne as qb1 going into next season is a big mistake, that he has to backpedal and address through the portal. There is no way anyone can tell me Thorne is more productive than Ashford.

Freeze may have lots to learn but it should not be at a program like Auburn. This program is designed for elite staff as well as players. Auburn use to bring fear but now everyone outside the conference wants to play Auburn, they see it as a win.......
@@shungreenwood3386 I agree 100%. The offensive staff dropped the ball all season. Robby would have given this team a better chance to win, if they would’ve allowed him to run the entire offense. Thorne has thrown for double digit interceptions all 3 years as a starter, the kid is prone to throw an interception in every game.
I wonder if he is just trying to show the receivers that catching the ball can be done. I think AU's receivers couldn't catch a cold.

Peyton Thorne sucks. I been saying that from Day 1. He is scary and can't take hits. His passing is not where it needs to be for guy who been previous starting QB at MI higan State. What wrong with Hugh Freeze. He must be blind. Should have taken Thorne out before the pick 6.. We could not get a first down other than by penalties. No excuse for that at all. Let Freeze recruit and not coach. Terrible talent manager. Let Cadillac be the coach and get rid of Peyton Thorne. He only looks fir Renaldo Fairweather. It easily noticeable. This was embarrassing. How does a head coach not get his team prepared for a bowl game? The timing of recruiting deadlines? The transfer portal? These were not issues in the games against TX A&M, LSU and NM State. There is a trend of being unprepared. We either have a head coaching problem or a coordinator problem. When you cannot turn over responsibilities to your coordinators then you have a coordinator problem. And the QB problem, the most important position on the field, is not going to be solved by the 1st and second stringers. So its Hank Brown or the incoming freshman. Another year of rebuilding.

Cam Brown is scared to get hit the only balls he catches is in space. When someone is around he drops them. He should not be out there.
Thorne has no natural instincts and looks like a baseball player that just plays qb because he has too but doesn’t like it and isn’t good at it , just has enough talent to get the starting job and fool the coaches into thinking he good

Talking about composure: To the extent Hank B has composure, the lack of consistency on PT’s part stems from lack of composure.

It takes a few years to build teams. We have the #7 class in 2024 and #5 in 2025. Must build there and focus on recruiting WILL pay off.

This was embarrassing. This team is competitive against Georgia and Alabama and gets embarrassed by New Mexico State and Maryland.

The ceiling for 2024 is 6-6 unless there are massive changes.
The thing is, we are very inconsistent, some games great some games awful. We have 5 games next year I think we for sure win and we play too many games too well to only win one more. I think we will have some bad games, but no, I think at least 7-5

To my mind, this team was ready to play Alabama and WAS NOT ready today. The job of getting them ready belongs to the coaching staff.
Hugh Freeze was my first and last choice. So far, I've been wildly underwhelmed. I wasn't expecting ten wins. I was expecting a well-coached team, that got better week by week.

I wish this staff would attack Auburn's problems at quarterback in the same aggressive, savage, lights out way they have gone after every other position problem we've had on this roster.
We got no new qb in the December portal last year. Here we are again this December and the staff really just breezed over the available qbs and explained each away with how much $ they would have to spend; AND that $ could go to another 2 or 3 needed dudes. So most of the good ones are now elsewhere. The spring portal will be leftovers. It sure was last year. Freeze just seems to be clinging to Thorne like he's desperate for him to improve. And he doesn't. And he won't. Arkansas was Payton Thorne's best, but that was it. I seriously mean 'that was it!' We won't see that again. Maybe a version of it, but not nearly as good. It's time for CHF and staff to get honest with themselves and deal with Auburn's qb problem. Hugh Freeze's offense needs a reliable qb. Payton Thorne isn't it. Hugh Freeze quit fooling yourself, and us. And Dapp, I love you buddy, but among those bodies you mention that Auburn will need, one of them is quarterback. Period.

Always great shows. Sadly, there are too frequent of times when it appears you aren’t listening, focused on what you want to discuss next and then provide a ‘yeah-yeah-yeah’ nod or verbal response. It’s your show, but be mindful of how much non-verbal communication can speak louder than verbal.
HB was outstanding today. Why wait until 5 mins into 4th qtr to allow someone else? Is CHF so bought in in Payton that it was a ride or die moment? Is his NIL too valuable?

"On To Victory" will fund itself by putting a better product on the field with talent you have. Winning fixes everything. PT experiment has run its course. We have talent to be better than 6 and 6. QB is the problem. If you stick with PT, you will lose your top WR class.
Stop asking the AU faithful for more "On To Victory" $$$ and show us the victories. Being unprepared and putting inferior game plan together after 30 days does not constitute an urgency to contribute more $$$$.

This is three games now this season (LSU, NWSU, and Maryland) that Auburn has looked totally unprepared to play. The real concern for me is that LSU and Maryland where played after having extra prep time. Not ready to throw Freeze under the bus yet, but this game just really put a damper on the great recruiting success. Really need to see some significant improvement early next season.

What happened.......as usual the offense was a no show. With 5 weeks to prepare and the offensive scheme was 3 and out.....3 and out....3 and out...run left....run right....run up the middle...now throw a WR screen....now throw a 3 yard slant......same crap as ALL SEASON.....the OC is AWFUL

Regarding headset communications, Auburn can't even manage microphone levels at press conferences. This is not a new problem, it can be traced back through more than one previous administrations.
They need to hire a communication person for press conferences. You have to check and test equipment like mics and volume. Plus you need to hear questions… it only takes a mic…keep your viewers happy.
I think a huge thing is preparation. We got upset by NMS and crushed when we didn't prepare, now when a lot of players missed practice to the flu and ofc opt outs and loose like this

Thorne is a D+ QB when he has limited support players around him, as in this year. But even if you gave him the best support cast available, which we are 2-3 years away from, he would only be a B-. We need a B+ QB or better to survive SEC and make playoffs. Uga, LSU, Mizzou, Ole Miss, etc all had B+ or better QBs. Put a fork in Thorne, he is done. Future is either HG, HB, or new kid. No transfer QB needed.

It was the only game I’ve been able to go to for the last couple years because my wife and I have small kiddos. Got an AirBnB in Nashville, hung out with some great Auburn fans, but it felt like the game was over first quarter. My wife isn’t a huge fan so she kept apologizing to me because she knows I’ve been lookin forward to it. Thus the life of an Auburn fan! Still had a great weekend though!
Thorne acts like he doesn't want to be there. No energy or enthusiasm. Bad reads and poor pass selection. Need to take him.out. Not the guy for Auburn!

@@Mikevdog I never wanted Bo to leave but I can’t blame him. He had more talent/ability by far than Thorne. I know our WR’s were bad as well but come on…. Thorne consistently makes the wrong give/keep reads on the option, misses wide open receivers on 10-15 yrs range routes, stops looking downfield as soon as he gets a hint of pressure. Funny how Hank comes in throwing with placement and these same receivers that have been trash all season magically aren’t trash anymore.
Zac, Is it not obvious Thorpe is not Auburns QB. We have a receiver issue. It’s being addressed. We have a QB issue. It needs to be addressed also. Why the people that matter are not seeing this, is incomprehensible to me. Please, remove Thorpe!
Was a fun experience in person all the way up to 21-0 mid 1st quarter.
It was freezing, we sat right behind our men where we normally sit, the nosebleeds at the 50.
That really hurt to watch.
Wife wanted to leave at the half, and I called those streaming out QUITTERS as they passed.
Made it all the way through to the 6m mark in the 4th, and wife and I both froze to the bone.
We stayed, and I shouted, whooped all the things. Here we go Auburn Here We Go! Push 'em back... etc.
So quiet on our side of the stadium. So many fans, so little noise.
We managed to get seats behind the family of 6 with a special needs child who kept sticking her fingers in her ears anytime I tried to get our section fired up.
Just awful. I paid for it dearly, too.

This was my first time experiencing an AU game in person. I sat in Section 312 row Y at the 50 with my wife and 2 sons I think we sat down from you. It was cool seeing passionate Auburn fans WDE!!

High school hugh puffs his chest out there about his recruiting prowess but when it comes to coaching football he’s not it. He needs to be hired as the recruiting coordinator and just be a full time recruiter. Get him off the sidelines on game days and bring in a football coach. Recruiting doesn’t matter if you can’t coach a lick. Look at jimbo fisher. If you can’t inspire and develop talent and scheme up a good gameplan for each opponent then getting studs doesn’t matter. High school Hugh’s talent evaluation at quarterback is pitiful. After year one I’m already ready to go a different direction. I’ve seen enough to know he’s not a football coach. He’s a politician and a recruiter.
Its funny all the vitriol for younger receivers (Cam Brown) vs the trash QB (Thorne) with more starts and experience in another conference. We won with a Canadian CB at qb (N. Marshall)...stop giving these young men positions, MAKE them EARN IT!!

A top 10 recruiting class isn't going to do us any good unless we have a coaching staff that can prepare and inspire. And it starts with Huge Freeze. He's flat. Low energy. No fire in the belly. He couldn't inspire a diarrhea patient to take a dump. He puts all that on the kids. And a head coach can't do that. Those players need in-your-face energetic leadership. And they'll never get that from Huge Freeze. I've said it from the start. As long as he's with us, we'll never be an elite team no matter how many 4 or 5 star players we have. Never. Freeze can't recognize, develop, or inspire talent. He's just not the guy.
