Where possible, all links are affiliate links, this youtube thing is an expensive endeavor and every little bit helps.
I got this for Christmas with the pedal and Kenwood 2 pin connector from my YL. I'm happy with it. The base is all plastic. it has a metal weight inside.
I've been using a HT as my home setup for a little over 4 years. This makes it so much better for logging nets.
I've had 1 or 2 people tell me that I need to up my gain a little (which I don't have), but I compared it with 2 different handheld mics, and didn't notice a difference.
What kid of antenna are you using now? Running nets for 4 years on an HT is doing God's work!
@@temporarilyoffline I only "run" the net on the 5th Tuesday of the month, so about 4 or 5 times a years. But I always practice logging the check-ins.
For 3 or 4 years I used a 2 meter J pole from KB9VBR.
I switched to a Diamond 2m/70cm this summer, so I can play more with GMRS. (it's in the 440 band)
I didn't mind the cost of the antenna, but upgrading 100 feet of coax was a jagged little pill to swallow.
When I got started I used a UV-5R and a roll-up J-pole indoors! Was a fun time!
No wonder! I tried to order one the other day. Out of Stock on the 8-pin model. I guess cuz they sent the last one to you.
Now I want it more because of your Great Review Steve. Thanks so much!
Anytime!
They gave me a new link: bit.ly/3UzHE8o
The footpedal looks very similar to the one I have for my midi controller so hopefully it's a standard bit of kit
Its a "push button" switch, so as long as your device has an open/short design, you're good to go.
I know at some point I want foot pedal hands free operating. Thanks for the insight Steve.
You bet
Im wondering if it would go ok with the ic2730a given I have an RJ-45 to RJ-45 cable. l to go from the base to the radio. I’d like to start doing local nets and being hands free to log check ins would be nice. And even possibly use one of my studio mics instead of the mic it comes with.
They have a few models, so double check the pinout and you'll be fine.
@@temporarilyoffline would you happen to know where I could find a pdf of the manual for this? Can’t seem to find it on the Ailunce site or the Retevis site?
@@mattxoverbey I don't see it anywhere either - It wouldn't be hard to reverse-engineer from looking at the radio its spec'd for (the RT95) and checking that manual for a pinout though.
@@temporarilyoffline after I replied to that I did some snooping and found what I needed. Appreciate you looking out! Love the channel.
Foot switch is the way to go.
Hammin ain't easy, we need all the help we can get!
@@temporarilyoffline Facts! Makes it nice when logging.
Hi Steve, I’m trying to hook at foot switch to my 7100 to an Audio Tech microphone I have on my desk that is hooked to a focusrite Scarlet 4. Is this an easy solution, or do I just need the switch and a patch cable from Heil. Cheers David
I honestly don't know, but I think Hayden does!
Please, what voltage should I put on vcc+, I want to use it on my x6100, but without the speaker, just the microphone!
I don't know, but I think its in the owner's manual.
unfortunately it's not, finally I'm using another microphone base, thanks hugs from PU3EBJ.@@temporarilyoffline
Thank you Steve for the great review although it is something I don't have a need for. Thank You
No problem Janice!
The sound the foot switch makes is really the only thing I didn't care about it. The rest of the combo seemed just fine.
I'll have to check into how much you can hear that with headphones on. Probably a "benefits outweigh the problems" kinda thing.
Would this mic work for a icom ic-706 I have tried a older desk mic off a ic-730 the sm-6 with no luck
You'd need to get the RJ-45 version and check it's pinouts... or make an adapter.
May i know this desk mic can use with Yaesu FTDX 1200?

I believe they have a yaesu and a Kenwood option on their website. Thanks!
Olá. É possível usar o Mic Ailunce com o rádio Yaesu FT920 ?
I don't have a 920 to check.
@temporarilyoffline ok
Nice Review, been thinking along these lines. BTW the link just dumps on the Home page...
Great, thanks! Their website is a little weird. I'll see if I can do anything.
Thanks again, I was able to un-dork the website links!
Is it an affiliate link ? I am going to order one when back in stock and I want to make sure I use your link.
@user-my8nm8ei9n yes it is, thank you!

Can you connect any dynamic XLR mic to that base?
I have to watch the entire video before commenting...
I don't see why not, it's a pretty standard connection.
Any audiooooooo reports?
Just the one's in the video.
Could I use a pair of headphones with the microphone and base on an 891?
Yes, on the 891, there is a connector behind or below the faceplate for headphones and a switch to put that connector into headphones mode.
I didn't know I need it 😁
Now You Know... And Knowing is Half the Battle!
Cool, I need a throttle for my Boofwang to make it faster! :)
Moar Pweor!
Interesting piece...
It does the thing!
I just watched you interview with Bob Heil last night and then saw you do this. Do I trust that the microphone on this set up is actually giving me any kind of good audio. 100%, I don't. You get what you pay for. Life is too short to date ugly girls. I bought a Icom 7300, use good coax and have worked to make a good antenna (s). Why would I hurt my signal with any low cost microphone. This one or any other. Heck, the 7300's microphone is a Heil microphone. That is one of the major reasons the 7300 gets such good audio reports. Audio is so much of a good readable signal. Audio is what helps you bust pile up's. Buy once, cry once. Get quality.
I like you're thinkin!
Would be good for a field day or pota on the 2m/70cm setups if your club does multiple stations. Even Tech 10m I would think.
@@HowToHam_Tom sure would!
I do like the hat!
