    I’d still rather get a Jeep and max that out. I’ve seeen jeeps with insane flex no IFS mod could ever come close to. It’s just simply not possible due to the weight differences of IFS vs solid axel.

    It's nice, I mean really nice but I would still rather have a real axle than this, either way you're spending a lot of money 💰 but this is definitely a sweet setup and worth the money, especially with how weak the stock crap is and another aspect is with all the computer systems in these newer vehicles, I'm sure this is a lot more computer 🖥 friendly than chopping out the entire IFS, I have an older taco 🌮 2003 base with the only option being cd 💿 player and AC so I went for the Chopping option, but I would think twice if I was rich enough to buy a new truck 🛻 Good to have options

      @MarlinCrawlerMedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the question! We currently have 7 SoCal shops ready and/or experienced to install RCLT HD onto a 3rd gen Tacoma, which provides 1 ton steering strength (MarRack + 5/8” double sheer hardware) and 1 ton axles (35-spline Dana 60 inner & outer CV joints). I don’t think this is the slowest Tacoma in the world as the sticker says…. Sticker added HP dough

    • @MarlinCrawlerMedia
      @MarlinCrawlerMedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the comment! As far as we know this is literally the slowest Tacoma on the planet thanks to its 8-speed 27.54:1 transfer case resulting in a 580:1 final drive ratio. It's idle speed in first gear is 0.11 MPH (8.8 hours per mile (HPM)) and it's top-speed red-lined in first gear is 0.12 MPH (8.3 HPM).

    • @MarlinCrawlerMedia
      @MarlinCrawlerMedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For reference, from the 0:04 second mark the Tacoma is idling forward onto the trailer with no added throttle as shown in 12th gear, which is a 99:1 ratio. To put this into perspective, 12th gear in this vehicle is almost 3-times lower than 99% of all other Tacomas.

    • @MarlinCrawlerMedia
      @MarlinCrawlerMedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Having said all this, being the slowest Tacoma is only a bragging right, as it has no practical use case on the trail. BigMike runs this setup so that he may demonstrate all available gear ratios through its 56 speeds that our company offers to 1979 and newer Toyota/Lexus vehicle owners.

    You can get flex out of IFS similar to solids and you can score in an 88 percentile of solids, BUT, you’ll also spend about 888% more $$. IFS isn’t cheap, and they aren’t as strong, the CV’s aren’t designed to be at full lock laying down a whole lot of torque.

    • @twotwentyswift

      Build a Dana 60 that'll handle 40's and the price is very close actually. I just priced out building 2 Dana 60's and the total was over 20k if you want Chromoly shafts like Marlin crawlers kit, ARB's etc.

    • @MrNismopro
      @MrNismopro 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@twotwentyswift I wouldn't put 40's on an IFS system though. One slight hop under power, and bye bye CV. In addition when we're talking IFS there are so many links that have to take the stress. I'd spend the 20k on a solid and you know that you're good to go.

    Maybe it flexes better than 88% of typical Jeeps, but also it costs many times more than 100% of typical Jeeps. And 820 score is as good as it's gonna get, when 820 is just an average score for a Jeep and can hit 1000+ with some more mods.

    • @MarlinCrawlerMedia

      This is an excellent comment showcasing how RCLT HD is shifting the mindset on what an IFS is capable of. Thank you very much for the support, Vitamin B! 👍

    • @twotwentyswift
      @twotwentyswift 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      But the Jeep will still be a Jeep no matter how much money you put into it and the costs are nearly identical.
      I'm retired now but I made a nice living selling Jeep parts thanks to Jeep's long history of poor quality. Another consideration is the ground clearance on this IFS puts the Jeep's solid axle to shame, so flex is only one factor in offroading ability.

    • @vitaminb4869
      @vitaminb4869 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@twotwentyswift You're saying it'll still be a Jeep as if it's something bad. I don't know what Jeep parts you were selling, sure you can make just as much selling Toyota parts, especially when people try to off road and find out really quickly how weak it is.
      The front pumpkin clearance rarely is ever an issue. Rear it's more of an issue, but even then, it's rare, and the Toyota is not immune to that either.

    • @schristiansen3151
      @schristiansen3151 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      How does it cost more??? Chromoly axle shafts cost the same for both vehicles, as do air lockers, shocks, etc. Trust me, there is no way the Jeeps stock axle will support 40" tires, so an entire new axle like a Dana 60 will be necessary which is as much or more by the time you build it .

    • @twotwentyswift
      @twotwentyswift 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@vitaminb4869 Having owned a couple, yes it is something bad if you don't like constant repairs and fire/electrical issues. And if you think front diff clearance is rarely an issue you have to be a mall crawler 🤣One trip on the Rubicon will teach you that lesson.
