It was because the damn decimal between the numbers
Yoshi and Chrom were so painstakingly close dude!
I’m placing some notes here incase you’re curious:
- Even without the walls, Mario, Dr. Mario and Ryu wouldn’t be able to do it.
- Ness & Lucas probably can do it, but require godlike RNG.
- Lucario can do it, but requires high amounts of aura. (Yes, aura quantity does boost the final smash.)
- Shulk can do it if (and only if) buster art is enabled. (Shulk’s final smash damage and knockback gets affected by the monado arts if active.)
- Ken’s Shinshoryuken final smash deals more damage with mashing, but I don’t think even that can save Ken here.
- Wii Fit Trainer was not shown in this video, though I believe they can do it, I’m not so sure though.
- Rosalina & Luma can do it, however they need to be really close to Kirby, and it’s easier to do if they are on a platform just below where Kirby is standing or if the Kirby is on a platform above Rosalina.
- Kazuya can’t do it on small or short characters like Kirby, Pichu or Jigglypuff, however, on a taller character like Bowser, Donkey Kong or Chrom, he deals more damage, as an additional note for this, his final smash deals more or less damage depending on how far away you are from Kazuya when hit, so Kazuya can potentially only succeed if the final smash is on a big and tall character and they are close to kazuya rather then far away.
Other notes:
- Bayonetta failed due to the need to attack to trigger it, however, lets just say hypothetically she triggered it while in this case the Kirby was at around 50 HP, then she can do it, but mashing is required.
- Bowser Jr. can do it as well, HOWEVER, it abuses a glitch so I would call it cheating and not count it, but if you’re curious (for whatever reason) Bowser Jr.’s final smash deals more hits on a slower game speed, so setting the game speed to half will be enough to kill Kirby, assuming you have good RNG (though custom stages are disabled in custom smash so in practice you will only ever be able to do this on a normal stage.)
Also Sephiroth can do it if the effect was flowery

Interesting how characters from games before Final Smashes were introduced tended to fail more often than not, but characters from the games which had Final Smashes tended to succeed more often than not. Might be a correlation.
If aimed properly ness and lucas can KO kirby at 50% with their final smashes.

Interesting to see how many Final Smashes focus on launching power more than dealing damage. They really are meant as a finisher, after you've already been dealing damage.
Probably the first time I've seen Sonic's Final Smash be effective. Like at all.
I like how pit and dark pit have completely different final smashes yet they did the same damage in this challenge
Shulk could have used buster monado art to win, you can acess it while you have your smash meter up by shielding + neutral special. It actually makes a huge difference

Is there a reason why you don’t activate bayonetta’s final smash fully, I may have missed something, but I can’t tell for certain. She summons a dragon and does hella damage so I know she’d slay some of these challenges.

Hmm, can't Shulk use Buster Art to increase his Final Smash damage? (Yes, Arts can be used to affect Shulk's final Smash, but due to the Arts reduced time limit, they might run out during the animation, but Buster lasting for 10 seconds might not run out)
We Know that Final Smashes from FS Meter deal less damage than from the Smash Ball, some characters would have dealt 50%+ damage if it was from a Smash Ball and it is fresh.
