Survey of 900 NC adults shows voter trends for November election

- SurveyUSA interviewed 900 North Carolina adults online from Sept. 4 to Sept. 7, with 771 of them being registered voters and 676 considered likely to vote in the upcoming November election. SurveyUSA conducted the research online using a sample of online adult panelists chosen randomly by New Orleans-based Lucid Holdings LLC.
Also, people conducting the survey had the respondent pool weighted to the U.S. Census American Community Survey targets for gender, age, race, education, homeownership and to the recalled 2020 presidential vote.
Each poll question has a credibility interval of between 3-4.9 percentage points. A credibility interval is similar to margin of error but takes into account more factors and is considered by some pollsters to be a more accurate measurement of statistical certainty.

After listening to their methodology, I have no faith in opinion polls. First the poll has a margin of error of 5.4% while historically the difference between the winner and loser is less than 2%. So what is the use of such a poll. It doesn't answer anything. When a Pharmaceutical company which shows that their drug has a 3% increase in efficacy over existing drugs, but the margin of error is 5.4%, the Company does not even proceed with the application because it is 100% certain it will be rejected. These companies need a much larger number of people polled so that their margin of error is down to 1%.
900 voters polled in the Raleigh Durham area of course it would say she leads

I find it hard to believe that Kamala Harris can be up by 3 points overall in North Carolina if she's 7 points behind with voters in the 25 to 34 age range. Is she leading with voters in any older age ranges? I'm not a Trump fan by any means, but I'm not sure that I'm buying this poll if Trump is leading 49 to 42 with the 25 to 34 age group.

With 7. 3 million registered voters [which is not all potential voters] in North Carolina, 700 or even a thousand voters is not a statistically valid sample. That said, it is better than a kick in the teeth for Harris-Walz and the rest of the democratic line-up.
