Excellent to hear Kevin talk at ease, what a rider, was like a preying mantis working that Suzuki with that top Pepsi colour scheme, had hs posters up on the wall. Thanks for all the memories
I didn’t like the interviewer in the beginning, he grew on me as things progressed. I still don’t know who he is - I’ll look him up. This was a great way to spend an hour and twenty minutes. Thank you for posting!
I will never forget Kevin on the 500gp Suzuki and sliding off in the wet at 130mph during a race whilst running at the front. He bounced around with the bike to a stop. He never let go of the clutch even though it broke 2 fingers. He then got back on the bike and rejoined the race from the back. He punched his way through the field and finished on the podium with 2 broken fingers. Total hardcore. I was a spotty teenager watching in awe
The Yamaha dealer was called Hurst Supply on the north side of highway 10 west of Houston (near Katy high school) the old building was still there a few years ago.
Great to see Kevin chatting and answering questions. If I had been there I would have asked him had he ever ridden the RG500 CH last series Road Bike, and what he thought about it compared to his race bike.
Your right Jamie Kevin is a legend and a nice bloke as well. As of cause are his mum and dad Jim who I met several times at Day of Champions. I have actually got a pair of his knee sliders that I brought from them and which I took to Gary Taylor who got him to sign them for me. It was also the day I chased Darryl Beatty through the lanes of Edenbridge on my Pan when he was out road testing one of his mechanics bikes and riding in t shirt and shorts. Ouch ! glad Gary didn't know that.
I use to work on suzuki and go to the training centre at Crawley, they had one of his bikes in the main entrance to left … on the quiet I had a little sit on it 🙌👍 good day that one and will never forget that.
It's funny where Kevin talks of getting the bike 'all tied up" under braking while going into the chicane, that's standard practice now for almost every turn. Marques is absolutely amazing to watch, his bike is often so tied up you doubt he'll get it in line for the turn.
The Race at Mallory Park in 1986 (1:06:00) Kevin mentions, where Barry Sheene arranged for Kevin to ride his ex Race Suzuki RG500, and I believe paid Kevin's Airfare over. What a lovely Guy, Met Barry a number of times, and Kevin. Regards, Kevin (Grahame W) UK Donnington & Assen. The video is th-cam.com/video/ATrG8EcJg6A/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for posting this. Absolute legend and one of my all time bike heroes, great stories, what a rider he was.
Two legends. Two of my all time heroes 👏🏻👏🏻
I love Kevin....... one of the best ever... and a super human..
And James is all right too.. 😉

I was at this event. Top bloke. He was a Simoncelli fan and signed a Super Sic rep helmet for me.
Whit is one of the bests interviewers out there.
Kevin was the underdog on that suzuki in those races, but his riding skill over come that on numerous occasions what a legend
Those Tshirts are badass ! Kevin hauled serious ass saw him at willow in the mid 80s 85 or 86 I think he absolutely toasted the field
Big Schwantz fan, Would have loved to have been at this event!

Jamie Whitham , ex bsb/ wsb rider and commentator on British tv . Very knowledgeable as well.

One of my hero’s for sure
Bloody Barry Sheen, never realised he picked this winner
Was at Assen when Wayne made that last corner mistake & Kevin won, if I remember correctly it was really hot that day, Assen was special
Those bikes are priceless
Kevin The best👏👏👏
Kevin is talking and people are just passing behind him and leave! If it was me I would have stayed there forever.
Great vid thks for posting, but no soundman would put the PA speakers right behind the chair's of the speakers!

But Kevin did it on a 2-stroke - even trickier!
@@PDCRed nah, they had no back pressure.

My bike hero 😊
Marquez said in a rare interview with him: "I trust the electronics 100%"
BARRY, KeVIN....And now (I Hope) RINS....ThE 3 Suzuki Warriors
Alex is a smart rider. He makes the best of the bike and tyres.
James Withham. I call him match stick. As he likes to burn tracks down and delay the race to fix it...
Fuck off you knob. Whitham (check spelling) is a straight up, authentic guy.
