- I've always never liked grapplers, but man this Zangief player in Street Fighter Alpha 3 definitely got me a TAD bit tilted. Any time I play against a grappler I lose so many years of my life! What do you guys think of this Zangief?

This is funny, because a friend that I played with daily for years (who I actually taught how to play Zangief) would pick the X-Ism version in Alpha 3, and while I was still a higher skill level than him, he used to piss me off so much with the damage he could get from landing just a few attacks.
"What happened to my life...off an easy ass combo?". That's what I would say regularly. 😂
I mean this is cool. Dude using a basic Alpha Style no air blocking extra defense options just power and technique. But also his name was TEKKAMAN BLADE 2!! That was a cool Anime movie back then. Dude has great taste!!

This is why Zangief X-ism/A-ism Level 3 super is my favorite super of all time. People used to get so tilted/bent so hard when they lose to it.
I know I always got tilted whenever I would get bodied by grapplers. Idk what it is about it but there’s something about losing to a grappler that just sucks. I’ve never been any good at countering those kinds of characters. I just don’t react fast enough most of the time
@@jeremyroberts8822 Because grapplers are low tier. That being “common knowledge” amongst players basically makes getting hit by powerful moves feel entirely your fault.
Zangief is who I dreaded the most popping in any play through on SFA3 especially in X ism. Kills your high score even if he was 2nd or third fighter
Gief with X-ism seems like something I would do, not out of a brilliant strategy mind you, but out of a love of Grapplers and high damage. I also can't pull off a combo to save my life so yeah!

U have more 1 link combos
Even some super turbo combos can be done

Another thing about X-ISM is it's arguably the closest to the Vanilla SF2 style. so anyone used to mass damage Zangief in SSF2T...well...you probably don't have to change much in term of mindstate in Alpha 3

Fun fact: Zangief can cancel his lunging headbutt (forward MP) into V-ism activation to get an invincible long jump across the screen. Idk how practical this is and the timing is very specific but maybe it could very useful against zoners.
I haven’t seen anyone else on the internet mention or show this technique so I guess I’m probably the first person to discover it.

It's a very well known and powerful option for V-ism Zangief.

@@GoldGuard I know it's called Kattobi Cancel since the early 00s or so. So it's old known tech. There are other KCs in the game, like V Rolento, but the most notable one in real high level matches is the Zangief KC.

You took a lot of damage becuase the V-ism has less life than the X-ism. And X-ism does more damage.
v-ism has more life actually.
This zangief always chooses Rock, because all he needs is it working 2 or 3 times and he wins.
Doesn't care if he gets anti aired, then sometimes surprise headbutt into 720 at that rare time when he won't jump
I would take that first match & run , next!

With zangief, trick them with long vs short quick sweep. Lariat has high priority. Use green hand to bully them into blocking then grab.
