- Neil and Blake wanted to find out what all the bike packing hype was about. So, they decided to take a trip to Wales and enjoy the beach and their bikes for a couple days.

The guys explored the Gower Peninsula, near Swansea in South Wales. They took 2 days to do 50 miles, which was an easy introduction into the adventures of bike packing. And they proved that it doesn’t have to be huge, and that you can do it on almost any mountain bike.

Global Mountain Bike Network hi I am thirteen years old from Cork Ireland and am looking to get a second hand enduro or downhill bike! I watch these videos every day and would love to become a pro mountain biker like you guys used to be although I don't have a bike yet! And I mean YET but eventually I WILL! GMBN is my all time favorite TH-cam channel ever because you guys are so inspirational and awsome on bikes! Please give me some feedback on what type of bike you guys think I should get! Awesome lightweight idea for a tent, AND it reduces your theft risk as someone has to disassemble your tent AND reassemble your bike before they can ride away! And if they don't have the QR or thru axle they're stuck. Great idea!
As fun as it is bombing down a trail, the views from those hills are where it's really at!

This is great, 50 miles in 2 days can be had in a leisurely pace and with pubs on the way is simply great!
LOVE THIS. I grew up around here and this is making me very homesick. There's a lovely word for that feeling in Welsh which is "hiraeth" 🙂

Thumbs up to Blake and Neil for inspiration of this. Just replicated the route (well almost) this week and enjoyed the variety of terrains, scenery and great Welsh hospitality. I have to say though guys, the footage of the downhill off the ridge at Rhossili into Llangennith doesn't do justice to the wow factor when doing it yourself... No wonder the guys were giggling like kids at the bottom. Amazing. Well done all and thanks for great videos.

This is such a great video. I am currently at the university in swansea and these trails have been my playground for the last few years. The Gower is probably one of my favorite places i have ever ridden. I was so great to see so many places i know in this video and i couple places i have to yet to discover.

Great to see Wales again. For a very crowded isle you managed to find some beautiful wild spots. In mainland Britain the furthest you can be from a sealed road is about 12km and that is up in the Scottish far north. The big plus is you can always find a handy pub! How civilised.
But there are so many places you can get hidden in between all the roads.
The best campsite & beach in the UK hands down

Owen Preece consider first: would you find a campsite, setup, then pedal off to the nearest town for a shopping run? hard to do when your bike IS your tent. i don't guess you HAVE you use your bike, you can buy carbon tent poles to size

Biggest pro to the bike tent is that it can't be stolen while you are sleeping as the bike is part of the tent you are sleeping in.
Better & Better Yeah don't like that my bike can't be used with this setup. Still, a cool bit of kit!

This takes me back to 1987 when I rode the Gower Peninsula on a 1985 Saracen Conquest. It was good I rode many of the trails Blake and Neil rode.

Blake “iron eyes” samson. It impresses me how much resilience he has in those eyes. Only wears protection when going in a bike park. Love this adventures. If you guys can deal with the budget, it would be great to see these in other countries too.

This video was very enjoyable to watch! This is the kind of riding I would love to do. I have nowhere near the skills, to ride some of the tecnical trails the guys often ride, but something like this, I could thoroughly enjoy :)

That Rhossili Down descent that you did at 6:35 is crazy steep and rocky. I pushed all the way up there and rode down the other side with the steps. As I was pushing up I wondered how anyone could ride down there but you did.
I have done this tour 2 weeks ago, the climb at Rhossili was maaad
Thank you so much @gmbn for showing my home stomping ground in the best light. The gower is where I learnt to ride a bike. I used to ride those trails every day after school and on weekends. Riding there made me love mountain biking. Actually made me feel a bit homesick (even if I was there 2 weeks ago). Diolch en fawr.
The true amazing thing behind the mtbiking sport is that you take a MTB and you can do and go everything and everywere, from DH to xc, from a cliff to a countryside, alone or with your mate, pedaling or not.

These bike packing adventures are so much fun keep em coming. Looking at doing the coast to coast for charity next year and may turn it into a bike packing adventure instead of road riding all the way.

Loving the recent lifestyle type vids.
Neil's 100 miles the other week inspired me on one of my local few miles ride to just keep going and see where this path and that track goes.
Ended up finding a whole load of new bits I can ride locally and even a whole new XC loop of my local area.
Now I just want to grab and mate and backpack our local Cornwall coastal area, we had already planed a mini 15mile ish coast ride tomorrow. Looking forward to it!

Great video! I did a ride in the Gower last month and recognised most of the spots in the video. We even went to the same pub and stayed at the same campsite! The trails and views on Rhossili Down are so good!

Bikepacking is so much fun in MTB because you can do anything and go anywhere a gravel/xc bike can't :) can't deny gravel/xc can go faster in flats and less roughy terrain though hehe but hey I like lil bit of squishy in the front 😅

Two things I've noticed about a lot of your videos in the country: everyone has super nice gates for their pastures and none of them are locked! In the US (at least where I am), you would see a lot jankier gates and a fair number would have padlocks on them making this kind of bikepacking a lot harder (not to mention the elevation changes).
I like that tent Blake,no poles and compact,very cool.

Awesome of you to showcase and promote bikepacking. It is really fun and you don't need an expensive bike to do it on. Love the channel for years but please guys, you need to step up your POV game to match the other awesome footage you have :) ... you can start by getting some wearable gimbals and maybe some lav mics too.
