My re-blooms have been annual with basic minimum care as suggested. Thanks for the no-fuss video!

The orchid I bought (a white one like she shows here) came with a plastic shot glass, actually the size of a double shot. The instructions said to water it with no more than that small shot glass of water per week. The one I bought was wilted and the flowers were wilting. It had a discounted price of $5. I figured it didn't get watered for a few weeks so I gave it a little extra water at first and followed the shot recommendation since. The flowers perked back up and the leaves are more upright now. It looks great.
So you have to be extremely careful in watering it and limit the water. Maybe Molly dunks hers only once every one or two months. She really didn't say, other than to let it dry out. Others may follow the shot glass method. Also, I use room temperature rainwater, not nutrient poor tap water.

The last piece of advice noted (cutting the spike at a nod close to where it had bloomed) is if one wanted to "force" another bloom.
This is fine, but the orchid will take much longer to spike & bloom again after a "forced bloom" has occurred. Also, the next bloom may not have as many buds.
Cut a spike at the base after it's done flowing. Only then will it grow new leaves and store energy and nutrients to produce a new spike that will contain more buds than the previous.

Also, I never took of the clips, is that something I am supposed to do? All of this is very new to me!

thanks so much for your tips! I have a question though, I received an orchid plant for mothers day and have only watered it twice since then... i have been keeping an eye on making sure the moss is cool and know not to water it too frequently. But some of the flowers have been falling off in the past couple weeks. I don't know what to do and dont want to kill it! when i watered it i put it directly in the pot, and made sure that i wasn't soaking.. there is a plastic container in a decorative pot. please help!

Oh no! I bought one with all the blooms out. Hopefully I can keep him alive and have it rebloom.

Nothing is wrong. This variety of orchids is just going through a normal cycle. Simply cut the dead spike (stem) off as closely as you can to its base, remembering to sanitize your cutting tool before use.
The majority of phaleanopsis ("Moth Orchids"), after a spike has blossomed and dropped its flowers, the spike will die-off. This occurs so that the plant can focus on growing new leaves as well as a new spike that will produce more flowers than the previous spike.

My orchid shares a room with my guinea pigs, the guinea pigs need warmer climate and the orchid needs cooler. My temperature is quite unsteady

Just out of curiosity, why is it better for a phalaenopsis to be in a plastic pot as opposed to a clay or decorative pot?

In my ignorance I cut the stem to no stem at all. The plant is healthy and pushing me leaves. Will it regrow a stem and bloom?😔

I "rescue" phals that are in a bad shape from stores. I am an orchid lover and cringe every time I see one that it's on the way to orchid heaven because of the poor care that the stores offer. needless to say that most of the orchids I picked up greatly discounted have thrived. they just need some proper care.
