- I'm fortunate enough to get gifts, usually in the shape of edible food stuffs, all the time...Usually they stay up in my office as kinda of weird little keep sakes, but I decided to experiment a little with this weekend's video and do kind of a semi-mukbang style banquet eating all the foods I've been sent this month...

The sachets are dried silicon gel. To keep foods fresh and keep out moisture. Great video Beard.

oxygen, not moisture. It's to prevent oxidation.
So which one is it?
well technically both right since I can't tell which packet is being used. If it's silica, its for water adsorption, if it's iron, it's for oxygen.

I love biltong, everyone should be excited about it. High protein, next to no carbs and lovely spices. Jerky tends to be full of sugar.
Again, I can’t believe this was more than 5 years ago. This setup and style of video is my all-time favorite.
You have to toast pop tarts in the toaster. They are so good warm. Brown sugar cinnamon frosted is my favorite flavor. 😊

The peanuts were coated. Peanuts are normally a waxy yellow ochreish colour although their skins are a reddish brown. It depends on whether you shell them, deskin them and whether you roast them and/or cost them as to their appearance.

The silica packets are in there to absorb the moisture in foods that are meant to stay dry. It’s the same thing they put in boxes of sneakers
The little packets inside of certain foods, beef jerky, pork scratchings etc are oxygen absorbers and they allow foods to have a longer shelf life.

Thos lil packs are silica gel, they absorb moisture. You get them in new shoes as well. They’re in your food to stop it moulding.

Happy Birthday! They put them in packaged foods like biltong and pork scratchings to remove/absorb oxygen and stop the food from going soft/going off.
Inside the packets from the bags of meat are little people that defend the meat from the cows, chickens and pigs trying to rescue their siblings

I know, I know, I am like 3 or 4 years late but in all your upcoming year---Birthdays, Happy Birthday Adam!!!!! As far as I am concerned, You Win the entire challenge, by eating that package of Pop-Tarts!!! Are they not Just Terrible and Awful, add any other adjectives you can or do see fit, Just Gross is what every flavour of them is. Ding-Dongs were something my wee Sister and I enjoyed when kids. Put them in the fridge and add a couple scoops of French vanilla, or whatever type Vanilla Ice Cream you prefer, they are better that way, Though once a child hits somewhere about 6 or 7 if I recall, they become less and less sought after, to write it nicely. Add the ones you ate, we don`t get here in Canada, but the ones mentioned we do certainly. Ginger Snaps are okay. Over and Out. :)

Bill tongue is dried as a large piece of meat and then carved and beef jerky is sliced first then dried. Also the bag that says don’t eat is for taking out extra moisture from the food item inside.

the reason they put those little white bags with some mini marbles in with the meat is to control air humidity in the package to keep them dry for better preservation. They absorb the humidity in the air

The sachets are dessicant, meaning they absorb moisture. It reduces the chance your food will lose crispiness in terms of texture and reduce chances of mould spores from spoiling the food before you eat it.
Those little packets of silica gel are in there because silicon dries everything out so it keeps the food dry and fresh. Oh n happy birthday 🎂
