Nice, have followed Pete many years, always a plus; remember early years with Steve Nelson in the Village and venues @ St Peters church NYC... Enjoyable .
Has that nice groove from beginning to end....funky salsa....with a little drama. I swear they quoted 'Listen Here' (Eddie Harris) somewhere in there. Definitely my kind of sound.
Look at Bill S., he's enjoying the moment, listening carefully what is happening around him, great musician, great drummer, that concepts aren't the same :)
I think it's a matter of career choices, the others have made themselves more visible through collaborations outside the "jazz" world, and they've been around longer too... they're all awesome
this trio has been called larry goldings trio, im sure its the bill stewart trio every once in a while too. Superb group, tho, i could listen to them forever and feel like I've been on a grand soul soaring adventure.
I agree 100%. I know some great drummers who are terrible musicians. They play to hear themselves, not to support the song. Hard to teach, but invaluable to be a well rounded drummer.
even with names like this I'll bet it's still just a couple hundreds bucks each tops for a small club date! musicians have had almost no raise in club date wages in about 60 years, but recorded music means nobody has to give a shit! we can never strike, cause the next dude down will step in happily for $50 less than we were getting!
you don't get rich playing live dates. they're to promote recordings. look out in the room. is the place filled with at least 100-200 people throwing money at waitresses.....
This DVD is a must for all humans on the planet .... it just might be the start of world peace.

This guys are from a different planet!
bad ass rhythm section man! Both JIm Hall and Pat Metheny alumni! that's a lot of seasoned support for a guitarist!

Yes!
Come to England pleeaaassse.....
Great Peter !!!
this is sooo out there
Oh Man this is a world class guitarist! Wonder why he is not as popular as Scofield Metheny and rest of the VIP of the guitar
Dunno, but he's got Scofield's drummer there!
Agreed, this guy has beautiful flowing, lyrical lines that don't get stale over vast amounts of bars.
I think it's a matter of career choices, the others have made themselves more visible through collaborations outside the "jazz" world, and they've been around longer too... they're all awesome
He mostly resides in New York
He should be, because he plays just as good as them
Awesome.. Love the movement!!
Great! Sounds like early '70 cti stuff. Soulful playing
A real hidden gem....Should be mixed in with the greats!!!

Oh man, I had to hear it twice, it was just crazy good: a 100 thank you's to MeEle (you ele?) and the Peter Bernstein Trio... just crazy good...
I really like his tone. It's doesn't sound effect-laden or reverbed-out like so many current jazz guitarists.
mitici! grazie

Bill Stewart, one of the finest musicians out there, listen to him on the Metheny Scofield album, or Metheny's Trio 99-00 live album
Just perfect
Man..smoking!
Maravilloso !
drummer is playing fuckin' tight!!
Old classic clean JAZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!
top shelf
Nice!
SWEET
@Keithdhodges Well he has nothing to hide unlike many guitarists!
@Keithdhodges I talked to him after one of his gigs a little while ago... it's all amp tone!
smoke on the water at 8:57
god damn! jizzed my pants
I think they are pretty busy. If i played at this level, I would have trouble remembering to breath, never-mind smiling.
smoke.. yeah
haha the club name is smoke and organist plays smoke on the water
Is this a Steve Allee composition?
you should see Julian Lage...he always smiles!
If I could play like Julian, I'd be smiling too.
If anybody wants to check out Pete's solo...gum.co/IABx
Nice tune....hopefully there are some nice themes - tunes in the now jazz area, but they re limited...:-( (the best tunes was 50 & over years)....
8:58 Smoke on the water?
The club is called "Smoke". But it is on Broadway in NYC, not on the water.
Sure they do.
What is the brand/ model of Bernstein´s guitar?
you mean except bugge. bugge is one big smile
hahaha marvelous
Taste -eeee!
ya ves si sounds cool. sona molt bé, on s'ha d'anar a escoltar-los?

I could do without the organist and, if I am to be honest, the drummer as well.
I tend to agree. I'd rather hear a tenor sax instead of the organ in a trio setting or just double bass and guitar.
Why don't jazz musicians ever smile.
Why is Hans Groiner playing this terrible music?
Who are the members of the group? Is that Jerry Z on organ?
