Exactly! The local police union decided to play politics when they couldn't get enough evidence for any ADA in the county to even be willing to prosecute the case. A cops job is to police. A police union's job is to protect cop from lawsuits. Both the local police and their union decided their powers expand FAR beyond what the law says.

I'm blown away by the sheer number of people here who think when you get pulled over for speeding, it's totally normal for police to hold constant press conferences demanding that you revoke your own license INSTEAD of writing you a ticket for speeding. If that doesn't sound like a normal thing that would happen to you, it's because that's NOT a normal thing that happens. Do y'all think they chose not to arrest her out of professional courtesy? Or perhaps yall trust organizations known for protecting Nazis and criminals that work in law enforcement? Stop being dumb.
The corruption with those two is astounding. Her arrogance in knowing she is untouchable and can get away with anything is sickening and scary. To have the balls to fire people and promote her lover all while being investigated is unreal.
Which law protects sheriffs from state and federal laws? If the local cops had enough to convict, they would have arrested her 6 months ago. Instead of that, they're doing it like politicians and trying to get the public to lash out against their enemies they can't convict. There's a word for that, it's "corruption." So far, there are plenty of witnesses and a lot of facts and evidence. She has fired multiple people for no reason other than they cooperated with the investigation or because they didn’t side with her. She is corrupt and she would fit in perfectly with the View crew of useless women.
How is she doing protecting the public, though? We elected her, the citizens. We can’t do anything about getting her out until March, from what the news says. My city doesn’t have its own police department. San Carlos depends on her deputies. 🤦🏻♀️🥴😞

Truth be told, the San Mateo County Sheriff is an elected position. I don't know what the truth is about Sheriff Corpus. What I do see is all the different strategies available to unseat her being uncorked. As a public servant employed under the Sheriff’s office, I ask for clarity: did you engage in a consensual sexual relationship with the Sheriff prior to your appointment? Please respond with a simple 'Yes' or 'No.'
Yeah I don't know what to make of this situation. The circumstantial evidence for these two doesn't have them as squeaky clean - much of it seems probable, "we didn't have an affair but we did go on a trip to Hawaii at the same time and met up for coffee". But the narrative that the accusations are political in nature also tracks - the judge took only anonymous sources and did not interview the previous sheriff who would've had first-hand knowledge of potential validity of these claims - she's also put herself in political plays as a retired judge before, going on CNN to call Trump's legal team "stunningly stupid". She *probably* isn't afraid to color outside the lines a little bit to make a case.
