AJJ is a lyrical folk punk band originally from Phoenix, AZ whose witty ballads cover politics, existentialism, religion, human rights, and social anxiety. They're known for a sardonic, somewhat theatrical approach to storytelling; using absurd metaphors and arresting internal dialogue to illuminate their own human frailty.
Recorded on October 9, 2018 in Chicago, IL.

I like how Sean hugs his guitar while singing.
He’ll tell you it’s therapeutic

AJJ helped me through the toughest years of my youth, and I listened to them almost exclusively for a year or two. Some of their pieces define major parts of my life and I couldn’t express the effect their songs have had. I’m glad they are still out there being badass.
Same, darling. AJJ and Neutral Milk Hotel for me.
Same here. People Who Can Eat People Are the Luckiest People in the World was an undisputed masterpiece.
@@orlyplate yep
John House Same situation for me lmao
This
I started to cry when I saw the Stoneman Douglas pin he has on his guitar strap, I lost my friend on that day and I really appreciate the fact that he took the time to honor those who we lost that day, thank you so much Sean, Alex would love it.
Sorry for your loss my friend. I hope you're doing well

Thank you
3:54 the first time I'd ever taken a psychedelic I had to perform 1st chair tuba the next day for my high school concert band, I was young and stupid for not understanding that I would still be full fledged in a trip. I just remember being balls deep in a tuxedo pretending to play tuba the entire time until it came to my solo, that was the only thing I played in a 45 minute performance. Idk, him barely tapping the drum reminded me of an acid story carry on.
At this point watching Sean do a set without any roger miller covers is just awkward and borderline uncomfortable.
lmao, true, the AJJ lives rock
For some reason Ben's vocals always hit me really hard when I hear them play live.
I agree!!! Saw them in dc a few weeks ago.Such a wonderful voice!
Oh that's strange, might explain why people like to see shows live maybe baby
It has to be the beard...
Damn, Ben killed his part in Coffin Dance.
Ben has such a clean and clear voice, what a cool rendition
:3
Are you ...'A... JJ?'

If the title hadn't spoiled it I would have really thought that was Slayer.
That eye contact doe.. spicy
Sean sounds so good nowadays.
Ben is so cool... and I think people dont give him the recognition he deserves... Ben if you are reading this... you rock and we love you.
Small Red Boy live always hits me so hard...
South of heaven
southwest of heaven 🤙
This is one of the best small red boy performances I've seen. Never get tired of it.
The sound of AZ forever! Instantly teleported to a hot house show in AZ and its great
26:47 (foreshadowing)
just as they started playing coffin dance it started hailing really loud outside of my house????????? its a sign
Love these guys! Small Red Boy gets me teared up every time.
Ben’s album Wiccan Babysitter is great, if anyone hasn’t heard it, and he sings all the songs on it. Very punk
Can we appreciate the guy who's playing an electric guitar AND a keyboard at the same time?
I’m pretty sure it’s a bass, but totally
@@MasonMcCarthyNo, it has 6 strings. I think bass has 4.
Louis Theroux on cello
The look on Sean's face, especially during Coffin Dance, is how I've been feeling everyday. 1,000 Yard Stare.
A long time waiting, thank you for this AT, and thank you sean for being such a beautiful soul
sorry if this is silly but what instrument is mark playing because it looks like electric cello but sounds weird like brass
It’s electric, just a pedal or program to allow it presumably. Sounds great regardless.
God, I wanna see them live so bad
If you ever get the chance it's so worth it. Hands down the best show I've ever been to, I walked out of the venue a new person.
Saw them two days ago they sound exactly how youd want them to live love them a lot. Mans did a cartwheel on stage lol
Why? This band sucks so bad
You have great taste in music. They are awesome live. Very nice guys too.
@@gozzaldi1486 then why are you listening to them on youtube?
Favorite version of Goodbye,oh goodbye by far. Great song.
Hell yes! Thank you to both parties for doing this! ❤
Jesus Sean stop looking so beautiful!!
the drummer did a really good job! but everyone did too as well
Small red boy makes me cry everytime I listen to it
So no idea how hard it would be to get to direct and create a movie, but you guys could definitely create a musical!
Get the frick out of here, Dave
I love you cuz I love you cuz I can AJJ!
AJJ really helped me through some of the hardest times in my life and they still do with their songs i love them and always will
Owen evans!!!!!! ssssick!
Yessssss finaly!!!
Great vocals
Great set! I loved this version of "I Hate My Brain"
needs more views. i know I've watched it like 50 times.not even exaggerating.
I've never loved a band as much as I love AJJ, I just wish they'd come to Wales
They played in Cardiff a few years ago, so there is president for them coming back
Dude looks like john galm
Best band ever. Love these guys. They are always phenomenal every time that I see them.
No more shame, no more fear, no more dread.
That was a really good performance, but AJJ's music was more interesting before Sean discovered musical scales.
Johnny Copache I loved his songwriting before Christmas Island, and they did change a lot after that album, but like I love them more as an electric band
Eric Miller The true radical turning point was Knife Man, when they were a straight up punk band for a while. They do sound good as an electric band, but I prefer the raw and sorta throat-shattering sound from their acoustic origins
My last favorite was probably knife man I liked them as a straight up punk band but I miss the old acoustic folk/punk sound. It was so frantic and celebratory and anxious, screechy Yelpy I liked it. Rompilation was really nice I thought
I think knife man is my favorite. Im a punker though
They sound so fucking great even live. Love these guys. One of my favorite bands of all time.
Greetings! Wow your channel has great views I can watched repeat again! Excellent work! I've shared this to my friend. i like how you ended your video
watched this with my parents. 10/10
I’ve never heard a song from this band I don’t like
Love the button for Stoneman Douglas
Sounds like a Mountain Goats tribute band.
I can unironically say this band saved my goddamn life 💖
the drummer of this band is such a cool guy
Great session! This version of small red boy was amazing.

I don't wa t to relate, but i'm glad i do.
I just saw them live last week and I've been missing the experience of hearing them live. It's a goid thing there's stuff on TH-cam.

Trans songs? I dont listen to lyrics super closely, could you tell me which ones those are? Sorry, im dumb
