    Wonderful discussion on motherhood. I have often thought that being a mother has brought me closer to Christ than any other role I have filled. It has helped me understand how Christ could willingly give His life for me. I would willingly give my life for any one of my children. Before becoming a mother, I had not experienced that depth of love for another human.

    Thank you so much for this podcast! It always brings me so much joy and learning.
    I appreciate your discussion on 1 Nephi 21: 15/Isaiah 49:15. I'd like to add a thought that, as brilliant and incredible as you are, three men may not fully understand. I've had the privilege of being a nursing mother and having a sucking child. When everything goes right (and it's ok if it doesn't--mothers can feel a lot of guilt when mortal bodies have frailties, so I want to be gentle and cognizant of their pain), a mother's body has a unique physical connection to her nursing baby, that goes way beyond your typical, powerful parental love. Her body will produce more milk on demand. A single mother can nurse multiple babies--twins, triplets, or more. She produces milk day and night, no matter what she's doing. As her baby grows and their needs increase, she produces more milk for them. And if she's separated from that baby for even a few hours, she starts to feel it. She physically feels when the baby is hungry. If it goes too long, it starts to become uncomfortable for the mother, and even becomes painful. She can develop infections if she doesn't feed her baby regularly. Can a mother forget her sucking child? Physically, no. Her body begins screaming at her before her baby does. If, heaven forbid, something happens to that baby, her body will continue to produce milk and physically mourn for weeks, sometimes months. This metaphor for the way God loves us, to me, feels so much bigger and so much more eternal than what our mortal minds can comprehend. And if she, a nursing mother, could forget her sucking child, but God could not forget us? You're telling me that there's a connection, a love even *greater* than a nursing mother? And that love is for me, and you, and all of us as individuals? Wow. Mind blown.

      You said my thoughts so beautifully. I think that is why we really do not understand how truly and deeply loved we really are. Newborn babies really don't understand fully the love and devotion they are shown and sacrificed for either.

      THIS is powerful! I have also been a nursing mother, and there are no words to express the bond that it forms, between mother and child. You said it all so perfectly. Bless you, Sister.

      Well said @liserbiser I was fortunate to have two healthy babies (after 7 miscarriages) my last child, 3 child, a little girl had many health issues. It was amazing how my body adapted to serve her with what she needed. I produced so much milk I had extra to share, and did so with a friend who adopted a little boy. When my daughter died that I had a place to give that milk too, so it wasn’t wasted as my body mourned at that physical level from my mind and soul.

    You're absolutely right Tyler it's not a competition. Lds scholars here in You Tube helped me to understand the scriptures fully. Really felt the tender mercies of God in my life now.. before my conversion in The Church of Jesus Christ Of the Latter day Saints its very hard for me to understand the Holy Bible. Now I am so excited to listen and watch all of you and learn from your teachings. So wooww. God bless you all.

    Qué delicioso banquete espiritual. Gracias ☺️. I'm a convert since my 17th year of age. I was found by two young missionaries.in Guatemala. I had lost many battles, but I had never give up from the love of our heavenly Father. I'm stronger than ever because I had chosen to be righteous. It's a joy to repent daily and to start again my journey to Heavenly home one day at a time. Thank you for your insights. I love, love, love this other testament of Jesus Christ, The Book of Mormon.

    I am amazed that God looked ahead, inspired the scholars you have as guests…like Columbus …to venture out and spend years in study of the ancient near east and its languages, so they would be ready when we needed them! CFM study is infinitely enhanced by podcasts by scriptural scholars , others who are able to articulate well and explain, and take our study to a deeper, more interesting and compelling level. Suddenly class discussions in SS are enlivened by people sharing what they have learned from podcasts and what it caused them to think about more deeply. Thank you for enabling us to learn and draw closer to our Heavenly Father and his beloved son!

    I love that note of brotherly love you ended on, brethren!❤ "Scathering", is my new favorite term, Brother John. My 'ducks' are always scattering and gathering drives me nuts. To realize this gathering is so central to the Book of Mormon's theme, in this and last week's podcast, gives me renewed nerves on the subject. I also like the idea of 2 spindles, a second witness.
    I am thankful to Brother Tyler for a more profound respect for Nephi and helping me teach my children last night that our scriptures are curious workmanship. I didn't know you were from Providence! We are in the valley! I would love to meet your wife, with 9, I imagine we could relate.
    I love the awe of mothers brought in from Brother Hank and the lovely C. S. Lewis quotes, ironically, I (we) have forgotten about some of (our) little ones, even in dramatic ways that needed miracles to return.❤ Praise Him. But not generally have I forgotten about them when they were nursing. 😅

    When Tyler at 30:00 suggested that the Savior doesn’t wag His finger at us and ask if we appreciate how much His suffering cost Him, I thought that the closest He came to that is explained in D&C 45:3-5 when the Savior does make a point of looking at His suffering, but it’s not to us, but rather to the Father in our behalf, as He pleads for mercy for us.

    October 2020 General Conference, President Nelson announced a temple to be built in Tarawa Kiribatu (near Fiji). As Tyler was telling us about Isaiah's prophecy of the gentiles carrying Israel on their shoulders and mentions all the temples being announced and built I couldn't help But think of this particular temple announcement. This country will be among the first island countries to be lost to rising sea levels due to climate change. I read somewhere (but can't find the reference to cite here) that in less than 50 years, Kiribatu will be totally submerged. Yet a prophet of the Lord has proclaimed a temple to be built there. I also think of President Nelson's promise that the Lord will bring about His greatest miracles. I don't know what is in store for the people of Kiribatu, but with a temple to be built there, I believe they will be blessed. I can't help but see how Nephi's courage and fortitude to press forward with faith in Christ and do the things the Lord has commanded is the perfect model for these people. Who knows what that may be, but I trust that some day the House of the Lord will stand on Kiribatu.

    Physiologically, a mother who is nursing a child doesn’t forget. Our body intuitively prepares for that baby and it can be painful if you don’t feed your baby. I know this is especially difficult for women whose babies die at birth or they are placing them up for adoption and their body is still producing milk. Isaiah’s comparison hits at an even deeper level than a mother’s loving compassion- which makes Jesus’ statement even more profound. God is so good. 🩷

    I'm always surprised when Nephi is speaking to his brothers and refers to Lehi as "my" father. He does it consistently. I would never address my dad to my siblings in this way. Do you happen to know why he does this? Is it a language or cultural thing? I'm just curious, but would love to understand. 😊

    • @gennesamann4323
      @gennesamann4323 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Perhaps, because Nephi sees his father different from how his brothers see their father. Nephi is speaking of how he views his father, as a godly man, a prophet of god. Leman & Lemuel see their father as a visionary man, with sarcasm and disrespect. So each sees their father in a different way. Same way people see God differently, a God of love or a God of punishment. Just my thought on this.

    I heard a lot about the scattering and gathering but nothing about one of the most important events prior to the Lord's second coming - the Restoration of the 10 Tribes. The general population of the church lacks the understanding of this topic. If you would like to learn more about it, watch this concise video that teaches what it is; it's firmly rooted in Christ's message to the Nephites in 3rd Nephi: th-cam.com/video/QWBwS6IL4Js/w-d-xo.html
