@@hunormagyar1843 Yes, I've read a lot about AVG's (American Volunteer Group a.k.a Flying Tiger) doctrine: "dive-and-zoom", they never got into turn fights w/ Zeros, that's why I presumed P40s wouldn't do the same w/ 109s.

The 109s were defeated, I don't know the details, but it was probably the result of a similar kind of unfamiliarity to this unusual opponent. 109s were infamous for their good climbing, but mediocre turn, Zeros were the opposite. Never turnfight a Zero or a Spitfire, or go vertical against a 109. Unless you're flying a P-51, that must have been a shock to Luftwaffe pilots. As I've heard, they likewise had to adapt to turnfighting the Mustang, rather than climbing with it. I've heard a story of an American veteran where a 109 pilot tried to make the Mustang stall by going vertical. Instead, the Messerschmitt stalled out earlier, resulting in it being shot down. Something similar could've/might've happened earlier in Africa if a Warhawk pilot had tried to energy fight a 109. You can't always respond the same way to different opponents in air combat, and that uncertainty could cost you your life or aircraft. That's why it was a breakthrough when for example, the US captured a ditched Zero. Previously, Wildcats and Buffalos were considered inferior and tactics like the Thatch Weave had to be used... then they tested said Zero, and learned how to exploit its weaknesses.

Is it just me, or do the fire effects in CloD look way more realistic than in GB. Fire in CloD actually glows instead of just being a yellow smudge.

They did a lot of it over North Africa and the Med.
That's all they did, if they tried to energy fight with a Bf-109 they'd get creamed. Good dive on them though, as with most American planes.
Maybe you're more used to seeing them in the Pacific. 109s climb better but are less agile than Zeros though.

No headset. The graphics update is being tested by VR and 2D testers.
