- Palpatine has accomplished a lot...which we saw most of in Star Wars Revenge of the Sith...however there were some things he didn't care for...and that was the quality of his troops. He felt numbers were the most important thing...whereas the First Order is focusing mostly on how well they perform. This makes a much better fit when backing Kylo Ren vs Darth Vader in the Original Trilogy. I wonder how Snoke's praetorian guards will behave in Star Wars The Last Jedi...They're supposed to have a very action packed scene in the film to demonstrate their power...I'm pumped!

yeah they were even trained from birth. while the empire had more troopers, they were all hired even forced into the academy.

Well theres also the strategic differences as well. You think Imperial Generals didn't want better armor and superior training? Of course they did but when you need to maintain a galaxy spanning empire, and you can get 5000 storm troopers for the cost of what 500 with all that stuff would be, practicality wins. The reason the First Order can do this is because it's not weighed down by that burden.

+Darkfire Project, well, stones kinda make sense. Same reason, why medieval knights (in full plate armor) would get defeated quicker with a blunt club, than with a sharp sword. Concussions and stuff.

I will always love the Clone Trooper armor the most out of any of the armor. I love it's Mandalorian look, especially phase 2.

I find it ironic that the Emporer, who killed his master for him wanting to end the rule of two and have more Sith around (and thus too many sith lowering the quality of the sith) didn't care about quality and wanted to just field massive armies.

I personnaly love most of the First order designs, that shows where they come from and how they evolved with the few resources that they have.
"Plot ammo" is the single greatest thing I've ever heard of.

I like the First Order armor the most. We get a real sense of brotherhood with them, especially when TR-8R yell's "traitor!" and that whole scene ensues. It show's that they've spent quite a lot of time together and that they're people just like our heroes.
I think first order troopers look the best
The way I look at the storm trooper armor is that it's a ballistic (or plasmatic?) Deflector armor. So it can deflect blaster bolts that are fired around the armor, but a direct hit would pierce the armor easily. This is how current military combat helmets work. It can deflect bullets that strike along the curves of the helmet, but a direct hit will blow a hole in your head.
In terms of looks, I love the Phase II Clone Trooper armor the most, but they all have just enough stylistic differences that appeal to me greatly.

Third place: clone phase 2
Fourth place: rebel trooper
Fifth place: Imperial stormtrooper

You know. I'm curious to see if there are more imperial remnants like the First Order out there. Maybe Snoke controls factions like the Second Order too or maybe the First Order is at war with the other remnants. Either way the First order could only be the First of the remnants, right? Also to answer your question, I choose sand.

I like that they got rid of the huge blind spot between the eyes. Even the phase 2 clones had one solid visor piece that widened around the eyes.

The empires main objective was to expand and do it quickly. The sheer size of the galaxy forced them to cut cost to achieve this goal. Imagine having to leave thousands of troops to patrol a planet. They needed to spit out troops very quickly. I believe this was the empires biggest weakness. Quantity doesn't necessarily mean quality.

I love the new helmets. Not only are they super customizable but as is they bring a smile to my face.

I think that helmet for the clone troopers was absolutely amazing with its nod to the Mando Origins. The chest plate of the Imperial Armor Harkens back to ancient Rome and Greek armor that would have pecs and abs built into the armor as an intimidation Factor. However the mobility of the first order armor and it's minimal inhibition to Mobility would simply make them terrifying on the battlefield. So if they could just wrap all three of those up into one that'd just be great.
They should be using droids instead of those dudes.

When you think about it Storm troopers have completely dehumanized in the Star Wars canon. They're basically just walking target practice and might as well be battle droids since people just slaughter them.

I would like to also say it does make sense when you think about palpatines empire vs the first order being, the empire has for the most part infinite resources so they don't really have to worry about training since like the soviets they can just replace what is lost with about another several hundred bodies while the first order basically must rely on better trained soldiers since they don't have the numbers the empire had

you got this all wrong dude frist order trooper armor is trash compared to Stormtrooper armor, stormtroopers can go in space and can scrub all none acidic substance any even then it is really acidic stuff, there armor is better at takeing shots, like every time you see a trooper get shot they are just knock out because the bolt is spread to the rest of there armor just a 5 minute dump into a bacta tank and as good as new for they do get burned but not blasted, also when the falcon was taken to the death star darth vader let han and luke get leia out to track them to yaven 4 he knew when stormtroopers reported that the Falcon got off tattoine so when we see all of those stormtroopers not hit a thing it was because they were ordered to not because there aim was bad sure luke say he can't see a thing a thing in this helmet but he didn't have a problem seeing cameras and every guy in the room and blasting them all with out missing, also watch when the stormtroopers shoot throw smoke at troops who are behind cover and ready to fire and they get shot down like they were standing in the open saying me you can't hit me, so that says that there training was better than frist order troopers

Nazmine Amany Fitri gorge lukes has never worn armor in his life if he did then he would have know that rocks wouldn't have done shit I have worn armor and have slammed hard into concrete in my armor and I didn't feel a thing I was ready to keep fighting so when they had ewokes kick there ass it could be because it has no padding or shock protection from fast blunt force, or lukes didn't know how armor works

I hope they make the troopers more challenging to fight, like have a seen where there is 30 troopers fighting a group of 50 enemies and the troopers starts to win, but Luke comes around the corner and throws them all against each other, then crush them to death.
Clones will always be favorites. I became a clone fan back when battlefront 2 came out. (The old one) Some reason I loved their weapons, armor and eventually everything about them. My favorite clone battalion is the 501st legion because of battlefront 2.
Same on the Clone troopers they're my faves out of all the armies in Star Wars.

As a kid, I thought that the stormtroopers weren't wearing armor, but rather a pressure suit to protect them in case of depressurization of a spaceship during battle. I figured this out while watching Star Wars (or ep. IV or ANH or whatever you want to call it) when as the Falcon is being tractored into the death star, there are stormtroopers outside wearing backpacks doing work.
I really like the clone trooper armor for several reasons one of which is because it is the closest to modern military armor (that's one of the reasons I'm going it to the Army) but I like it because you can personalize it and because, You CAN hit your target in it!
I was at Celebration 2 years ago before TFA was released. I was at the Anovos panel debuting the new Stormtrooper armor. They still can’t walk up stairs. So they’re just as clumsy.

First Order troopers are bad ass. Better training, better morale, they actually HIT what they're aiming at, and are not afraid of sabres.

Always loved how the clone trooper armor looked like
Actually enjoyed all three armors. The Clone is the more gritty armor from the Clone Wars, the Stormtrooper Armor is a more clunky and "face of the empire" feel, and the First Order feels much more clean, making it more dramatic when you first saw injury.
I like the thought process of "if you can move better, you can fight better", which is almost opposite to traits Vader and the Empire expressed.
Phase I/II armors were the best, I cite the number of times we saw clone troopers hitting their targets and being able to continue fighting despite being shot. Also, clones would be a viable option had the Kaminoans been able to find a template that was combat efficient.

I like all the trooper armor, if I'm being honest, but I actually prefer the new First Order Armor. That being said, the Original Trilogy troopers will always have a place in my heart.

I really like the Episode III clone armor. There's something about that transition state that makes it look really interesting.
I agree on clones looking the best, and sounding the best. When people hear me say that Episode 3 is my favorite, they look at me weirdly. It's not the story that I like, it's just the action, the organization of the republic, with the clones looking cooler as they rank up, then the smaller-number jedi being able-bodied to lead them, which makes for a near un-stoppable military force. I also just like seeing the 2nd phase clones.
One thing I wished they added to the armor was the T eye mandalorian hemet design that was on the clone troopers this would have allowed them to see much better and I feel it’s much more menacing look.
Personal favourite was the phase 2 clone Armour. I just like it cause it allowed for more badass scenes and customization
I think the reason for the shift in military tactics between the Empire and the First Order is that, because the Empire is led by Sith, fear is the primary method of control. Palpatine saw the potential of a large army to intimidate potential rebels and foes and lawbreakers and opted for psychological control of the Empire. In the First Order, military men seem to hold a higher position. Notice how Kylo Ren argues with General Hux in front of Snoke, as if they were on the same level. The generals of the First Order, unfamiliar with Sith philosophy, find it more effective to have fewer -albeit tactically superior troopers than the Empire did.
More like the First Order has less resources.

You know remember when Palpatine executed order 66 well I kind of hope maybe the kamino factory is still alive a bit and maybe the resistance can start making clones again and get all stormtroopers back on their side forcing the new order to once again make droids and that’s what I want to see!
I'd like to know more about Kylo's outfit(armor?) and if it has any functions other than looking stylish. Anything on his helmet specifically would be wonderful.

My personal opinion is that phase 2 clone Trooper armor is the coolest in appearance. But Forst order Trooper armor is a close second because of the ammo LBV on some of the troopers

I quite enjoy the First Order trooper armor - it's almost like a blank face - you can't read into any expression, which makes it all the more menacing to me.
I've always though that Clone Trooper helmets looked like cat faces lol. Something about the angle of the "mouth."

My theory about new star wars films is this: they want keep everything as as simple and similar to the old films as possible. They're scared to try anything new because basically all the old people hated the prequels. Now we're stuck with flying boxes as troop carriers. Heck they're even scared to change the story line.. we almost ended up with a remake

Clone Armor: Great vision, best protection, it's the best you could ask for.
Imperial Armor: You can't see shit, poor protection, they said it's protect you from bolts, but get wrecked by little teddy bears with stones
First Order Armor: Improved Imperial armor, but with the benefit that you can't move in it, your neck is almost stay in one position.
