- Removing the differential from a BMW E46 M3 can be a tricky job, but it's doable with the right tools and patience. First, you'll need to drain the differential fluid, then remove the driveshafts, flange bolts. Inverted torx are the fasteners used by the manufacturer so you will need a set. If you can get the wrenches as well that would be a big plus. Make sure you have the right tools, such as a torque wrench, a socket set, and a transmission jack to support it. It is not extremely heavy but it is also not light. Be sure to keep the bolts and other components organized as you go. With patience and careful attention to detail, you can successfully remove the differential from your E46 M3. #m3 #differential

Welcome and thank you. Hope you like it
Instructional video was good enough to convince a novice like myself, that I could actually do this; but as you know, I'm here for the comic relief 😀 🤣😇
Up up general! 1❤1❤
Lots of positive energy from your videos, I can't stop watching!
Never imagined how huge it is. Thank you for such an amazing video to watch and learn
So very welcome
Great insight on how you work! I’m an apprentice auto mechanic and it’s nice to see how you’d do some jobs! Cheers friend
Thank you have a blessed day
You don’t have to remove the prop shaft completely. Just unbolt it from the diff.
I was doing guibo bushing as well
Hopefully I can be as cheerful while I remove my rear differential😭👍🏽
You can do it!😂✅
What’s wrong with the diff? Are u going to video the work on the diff?
Yes
They use copper nuts on the exhaust which doesn’t rust nearly like steel and they are softer. Also the copper doesn’t bind like steel and thats why they put copper in anticease grease
Now that was a lot of work 😅
BMW bolts and studs are made from Inconel. That’s why they’re a lot more resilient than stainless steel.
"Ain't nothin' to do, but just keep on turnin' " was my fav part. It's my new motto. Great vid!! Thanks :)
Glad you liked it!
Nice video. Great cars to work on. If you want to save time. You don't have to remove the driveshaft. Just unbolt the driveshaft on the differential side. Mark the center support bearing due preload, than loosen the CSB. It will allow the driveshaft to bend, hence separating the driveshaft from the differential will be possible.
How do you mark the csb? Purpose of this is to make sure it deforms bearing just like it did before right?
@@lukeg6767 The CSB is mounted with two 13mm nuts. The holder is preloaded. You can Mark the holder, since it allows you to place the CSB back and forth.
I came over from Instagram after findong your profile a couple days ago. Great video, awesome details and I like hearing your thought process
I appreciate you Thanks a lot for the support
Good video. Love seeing it.
Great stuff man 👍🏼
Appreciate it! Much love
Stap-on🤣🤣🤣 Thank you 🔧💪🏾
Hahahahahaha
Now I understand why BMW is shortened for Break My Wallet. Love di content still.
Lol
Nice
Hey rastaman, I was charged 20 hours to remove the differential and replace the differential cover. The differential had to be inspected because a bolt had backed out. 20 hours for the complete job. I feel like I was ass raped mon!!! What do you think??? Not only that, my car has a new subtle clunk it didn't have before....
The clunk could be one of the mounting bolts need to be tightened and 20 is a tad bit much. A little on the high side in my opinion
@RastamanBuilds I appreciate your reply! I don't trust them, I feel that they may have sabotaged my car. I had an incident happen a week later after I got my car back. My chain tensioner bolt came loose completely and nearly all my oil came out, and made a mess. I have reason to believe this was loosened purposely.
