You need to equip your sketchbook to your hot bar, then use it whilst aiming at structures, that will make blueprints for those structures (buildings, chests etc)
In the crafting menu, as long as you have yellow dots in the ingredients tab then you have new recipes you can learn. You do NOT have to have the ingredients to learn a new recipe. If the ingredient shows up with a yellow dot then you can use it for research even if the quantity is zero. You just hit "learn only" instead of "craft." You can also do this to learn new recipes and not use up ingredients.
While holding a 'Sketch Book', you can hold the right mouse button to highlight unbroken craftable items (such as storage chests, stone foundations, or lanters) and it will copy the blueprint into your build menu.
I'm curious, does the game ever tell you this? If I saw the sketchbook I'd probably do what Z has done and say "well I don't want any pictures or sketches or anything so that's useless" and never use it.
@thatwolfboy2898 The item description aludes to it, and when you have it equipped, you can see the hud button labels. The biggest problem I have with it is that it requires charcoal and paper to use. Charcoal is easy enough to get, but paper is a lot more difficult. Places that have buildables might have a piece of paper, maybe even 2 if you are lucky. However, a lot of the time, you will need 3 to 6 pieces to get all of the blueprints from an island. On top of that, in order to craft a single piece of paper, you have to make Paper Pulp. You have to have 5 of those for each piece, which means you need 5 hard stones, 20 small plants, and 1 charcoal per blueprint. I think that's excessive, but if you want the best stuff, you have to do it.
@timdonovan5511 I am unsure of the name at this time, as I'm not able to access the current build of the game right now. I'm having to go off of the few outdated wiki pages I can find on my phone. Either way, in the current build, 'paper pulp' requires 1 hard stone and 4 of the plant drops taken when using the scythe on emerald island plants. Z1 actually makes some in this episode while trying to figure out other crafting recipes.
You also need to build all the stockpiles besides just the wood ones. Then you can store all the rocks, ropes, and other resources instead of taking up space in sacks and chests.
wool is gonna become pretty important for faster sails to get to better areas, so feed and sheer your sheep regularly! bring multiple keys to fungal islands... the large fungal island you found with the obelisk stone (for the research table) actually had 3 extra intricate chests BEHIND the obelisk ;D
> use the sickle on grass and bushes, to get the materials to make more grass baskets for storage. > put some mushroom seeds on your home island's tree, so you can grow your own mushrooms. > i found that if you stand up close to the main stem of the giant mushroom, it's attacking roots cannot touch you. >> Best Advice, read what everyone is trying to tell you below!!
To be under the weather and still posting gaming videos for us to watch and enjoy... Now THAT'S dedication!!! ( still though, please get some rest and get well soon Z! )
19:53 "How did I make this?" The other tabs/books on the crafting menu are known recipes divided by type. Once you find a recipe, you can craft it from that (assuming you have the mats) by just holding the craft button. Also, once you know the parts you can 'use' them in finding other recipes even if you don't have all the parts. (i.e. You need three sharp stone but only have two, you can 'place a third' and just learn the recipe without getting the item.) 22:37 Or, you know, stockpiles that are meant to types of things. Wood stockpile will hold all wood types (charcoal, hard wood and such) 33:51 If only there was a way to study an image of something, like a sketch, and carry around with you like it was a book. 33:52 There you go. Mostly anyways. 34:53 Now grinding recipes being stored/shown somewhere... that would be nice.
Bonjour, you need sketchbook for copy blueprint of what you discover on island( house'element, stone box, etc),paper add free page (sorry no traductor use😂🇨🇵🇨🇵🇨🇵🇨🇵) Why you use field tool for fight? You need to fusion more of your item?
Hey Z... maybe you don't know. But you need the sketchbook, paper and coal to get some blueprints. You can get a chest, lamps and some other stuff by looking at those and "drawing" it into the sketchbook... hope it helps with your inventory problem 😜
You found the fungicide in chests... I suspect you might be able to make it with the mykter fibers, not sure what would be needed though. Maybe fibers, water, mushroom?
Z! Of Course you need the Sketvh book! Take it with some coal & paper to interact with buildi g parths you dont know to learn them 😉 EDIT :Tip: Use this method on a chest out there 😅
I’m not 100% but I think you may have missed the storage chest. I watched another streamer that’s not as far as you and he has it. I can’t remember for sure but it may have been a knowledge stone so you may have just passed it.
You are wasting resources by clicking craft everytime you want to learn something, you can just click the "learn only" Button to NOT waste VALUEABLE resources
Sketchbook is important for learning blueprints. And the field guide is important for seeing what an island needs or has too much of like animals that you can take.
"I don't need the sketchbook with me". I smiled
the sketch book can be used to unlock anything you see like a chest
Ya, It's like this game's version of a scanner.

@@tyranavalon I thought glassroot was used to make paper pulp

@@tyranavalon gotcha that makes sense. Wow that does sound expensive!
The sword takes out the corrupted root pods in 4 hits and it strikes faster.
You also need to build all the stockpiles besides just the wood ones. Then you can store all the rocks, ropes, and other resources instead of taking up space in sacks and chests.
love this series. Z1 s deffo my first goto for survival crafters
I'd say him and kage848
use ur sketchbook when u r next to a chest or any other thing/s that u dont know
Sleeping or laying down heals you to full.

It's nice that he make a vid every day, I hate having to wait 3 months to watch the next episode
You heal when you sleep too. Day or night doesn't matter
I like it More game play pls
Once you learn something, it goes into a recipe book, and there is a page in the crafting area where you could just click the item and make it
as long as you are making aloft content, i will be tuned in. i cannot get enough!

I could feel everyone smacking their forehead screaming every time you said i need a chest and haven't used the sketch book

When trying to craft an item you've already learned, you can go to the other tab and just choose the item you want.
GG. I think the knowledge stones and anchors give you random knowledge. It doesn't matter which one you investigate.
Use your sketchbook on things you discover.
Z gaming the sketch book and charcoal let's you sketch for blue print. You can sketch a storage chest
Sketchbook would allow you to craft better chests
Sweeet new episode of Aloft!
Enjoying this game. Keep up the great content.
25:34 they're fun-guys
Thank you Z, because u I buy this...
You found the fungicide in chests... I suspect you might be able to make it with the mykter fibers, not sure what would be needed though. Maybe fibers, water, mushroom?
Hey i like your video's keep it up :D
you don't need to go back, you need the sketchbook
I hate how in every game your base is a mess . You always say that it can be moved later .. and it never is xD
why don't you use the sword
Spike is good for range but sword is good for damage
Z! Of Course you need the Sketvh book! Take it with some coal & paper to interact with buildi g parths you dont know to learn them 😉
EDIT :Tip: Use this method on a chest out there 😅
Make a sword works great against the fungus
Interact with your home kite to set your home icon. You built one but didn't interact with it.
You’s the sketchbook on the chest to unlock it
You have to hold the bandage to heal
you can see how many fungus you need in the button before you put it
The most important thing he leave behind lol...
You forgot the key at the top in the castle
If you scetch the abandoned chest you should be able to make a chest
The sword
dude...did you try sketching a storage chest?...
READ YOUR COMMENTS Z, YOU'RE PLAYING LIKE A NOOB

You are wasting resources by clicking craft everytime you want to learn something, you can just click the "learn only" Button to NOT waste VALUEABLE resources
You are usually very good at so many games... for some reason i feel like you suck at this game
Make a sword
The sketchbook gives you blueprints 🤦
🗡️
Lol I'll be another comment. Use your sketchbook on a chest ❤
