Anytime I hear of GMWA, instantly I think of you, and the late great Rev. James Cleveland…I really miss choirs, and especially good ole times of Ridgewood 😢 (Edna Pough)💜
WOW! What a wonderful memory from 36 years ago and to see it from that angle. I'm watching me rehearsing the choir. Thank you so much Mr. Dawson for sharing that short clip. I don't remember the choir responding with such excitement and then to not want to let it go. Every writer wants to have their song received in that manner.
No one commanded attention the way the reverend did. All he would have to do is look out and say shhhh and the whole audience would immediately enter the mute challenge.
OMG where did you get this footage from and do you happen to have any for the Youth Choir I sang with, the same year? I was a young tender 16. My flight and hotel from LA to Detroit was paid for so I could sing my little song. It was my 2nd GMWA. Fun times.
