    Tap dancing is a dying art... The one thing I wished I had learned growing up. I just watched Tap for the first time since it was released. This guy, Savion Glover had the pleasures of working beside two of the greatest legends of all time, Mr. Gregory Hines and Mr. Sammy Davis Jr. They just don't have the talent in the industry like they used to.

      @PaulJGorzkowski 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@cadenharvey2461 A lot less opportunity for them. That's why I called it a dying art. It's not out there like it used to be. Most tap dancers nowadays, are older like Savion who are trying to keep it alive.

    • @mavifs
      @mavifs 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      There are a lot of amazing tap dancers today in the industry and many more developing. I don't believe it is a dying art. I think they are leaving their legacies and people are going for it. When you see people like Chloe and Maud Arnold, Sarah Reich, Demi Remick and many more, it's difficult to say tap is a dying art.

Black tappers stay very close to the ground and rarely use dance school techniques. Limited use of upper body. Often not done to music.

    I hoped that Savion would inspire the next generation of tap dancers. Sadly that didn't happen. He seems to be the last tap dance star.

      Christine Reardon Actually that isn’t true. Look up Sydney Burtis, she started her own style and a new branch of tap dance. Look at Sarah Reich, she connects tap dance and music by creating songs with jazz bands that feature tap and hopes to win grammys with them. Look at Chloé and Maud Arnold who have their own tap troupe with only women called the syncopated ladies. Look at Felipe Galganni and Samara Seligsohn who both have amazing tap companies and shows. Look at Nick Van Young who is member of Dorrance dance company and who not only is an outstanding tap dancer but while he dances he uses body percussion to make music. Look at Michelle Dorrance, I don’t even need to say anything just watch her, and same with Anthony Morigerato who holds a world record for making the most tap noises in one minute. This upcoming generation isn’t a failure. We are keeping the legacy of tap dance alive and nobody can stop us. We are some of the most talented and hardworking artists you will ever meet. We use people like Savion,Aunt Diane Walker, Harold Cromer, Dr.Jimmy Slyde and so many more. This generation is nothing short of a force to be reckoned with and we will make our mark on tap history. The next time you make a statement about my generation, do your research. Boom Roasted.

      You are clearly not a tap dancer if you think the next generation of tap dancers aren't inspired. By Savion and countless others.

      @@janellemaur333 That was a typo. I intended to say inspire us to watch the next generation. I have paid attention but society at large has not. And no, I'm not a tap dancer, just a fan.

      @@grannypeacock Ah, I hear ya - we're gonna keep tap dancing though, society or not. :) Thanks for showing love to the dance!

      I’ve been tap dancing since I was 3 years old and now I’m 14. I’ve practically known who Savion was my whole life. In conclusion: I’m VERY inspired.
