98 the hardest and strongest version on the list. That Teleport Attack and Orochi orb projectile were straight up menacing. Wow you added the rpg and shmup versions also! Dopeness bro! I like 15 Rugal but he seems rather weak compared to other versions.
One of the scariest most frustrating bosses in fighting game , that’s the great Rugal for you ( can’t believe that they cast Ray park of all people to play him , though)
@ fun fact , he also was in the second Mortal Kombat movie playing both Baraka & Reptile, and he was considered by Marvel to play both Namor and Iron Fist in the early 2000s
There should be Video game where all final bosses of various different video games fight eachother like the whole roster is Made up Fighting video game bosses only... The king of final boss fighters
Before I got into KOF and played it, I thought I have by now faced the worst of the worst fighting game bosses and even sub-bosses. M. Bison, Goro, Shang Tsung, Motaro, Shao Kahn. Boy oh boy, nothing could ever prepare me for the level of insanity I would face fighting Rugal. When I decided to get into KOF and other SNK fighting games such as Fatal Fury, I got the Orochi Saga on PS4 and the arcade archives version of Fatal Fury 1 and Special. I played the first game, KOF '94 since I tend to prefer starting from the beginning when I get into a franchise, as my favorite team and characters, the Fatal Fury team of course consisting of Terry, Andy, and Joe. It took me some time, I was new to the franchise, I haven't gotten used to the mechanics yet, so I was expecting to get wrecked by the cpu enemies on my way to the finish given my lack of experience and how different it was from other FGs I've played like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, no big deal. But oh man, when I got to Rugal, I wasn't ready! All I gotta say is that Rugal to me made FG bosses like M. Bison or Shao Kahn look like babies! I spent HOURS fighting Rugal! I'm not joking when I say that I actually cried! Tears were falling, I was sobbing, shouting, raging. This boss drove me near the point of mental insanity hearing the same special moves over and over again. "Genocide Cutter!" Multiplied by a hundred or more! You have no idea how cathartic it felt when I finally managed to defeat Rugal. I yelled, I cheered, I laughed, I jumped, I celebrated. The nightmare was over. I never had to deal with Rugal again. No lie, this game gave me a little bit of PTSD that I even ended up leaving the franchise for a good while until I decided randomly to get back into it, and nowadays I actually enjoy KOF. This guy sure left a scar on me! When I finally grew some balls and got back into KOF, I don't know if it's just me, but when I faced Rugal in KOF 98, he felt a lot easier than before. It took me I think 3 or 5 continues, sure, but it didn't feel as bad nor as long and painful as it was in 94. It felt like some good old sweet revenge when I managed to beat him again in 98 and as the same team too! Rugal Bernstein, I'm no longer afraid of you!!! You no longer haunt me!!! For now at least...god, I'm so scared of how worst he could get. I know he is way worst in future installments. I haven't faced him in KOF XV yet, but I already got a bad feeling about it.
I have my own favorite KOF Villain (Krizalid), but Rugal Bernstein will always be the real true Antagonist of the KOF series.
He's the definition of SNK boss syndrome. Caused a lot of rage to gamers.
Definitely.
You aint fuckin lying
I still need SNK to actually add to that boss challenge mode.
I have been asking about it for a while. I am hoping that they will add Goenitz next year
@@sladejosephwilson2300 Hopefully a lot of old bosses appear.
Agreed. I'd personally like Shin Shishio to show up in the Boss Challenge Mode. He'd be sick in 15
@@MarkLoweCEO King Leo is an awesome boss character.
I can still hear Rugal pressing that red button and the goofy sound that plays.

@ yep , the same actor , Ray Park
@ fun fact , he also was in the second Mortal Kombat movie playing both Baraka & Reptile, and he was considered by Marvel to play both Namor and Iron Fist in the early 2000s
First game I ever played was KOF 94 on the Wii collection, and man was I fucking humbled by Rugal
Personally, Rugal will also be the true antagonist of this series. He always had that badass vibe!
Even if he isn't the best villain. He is the most fun boss in the KOF series

The real M Bison of SNK. People say Geese is, but that title goes to Rugal.
Regal Jason always been insane
