    Great review! Thank you! My wife and I stayed on the next island over in 2020.....Cape Santa Maria on Long Island. In March of 2022 we're going to stay at an Air BNB on Hopper's Bay so your insight was valuable to us. We're going to rent a boat from Minn's and do some snorkeling too. Long Island has the same kind of beaches but we think that Exuma/ Georgetown has more choices as far as restaurants, places to shop go. We were SO blown away by the clear, gorgeous, aqua waters of the Bahamas----SO worth it and not that expensive! Thanks again, Mike & Carrie, Ohio USA

      Thanks for the kind words! I hope you have a great time on your trip. We are in love with the area and will be looking at making it a more frequent/semi-permanent arrangement someday soon! The water is just different there. Even when you look at it from space on Google Earth or something, you can tell it’s special :)

      By my count there’s maybe 22 distinct beaches on Great Exuma and Little Exuma that are accessible by car, and another couple dozen you need a boat to access. Most tourists are at the two major resorts and don’t really leave, so you’re just sharing these 45+ beaches with locals and maybe 200 visitors renting homes at any given time. In winter, it’s 80 deg and often no one else on a beach with you. This isn’t counting the rest of The Exumas hundreds of other beaches….

    What time of year did you make this video? Is riding the scooter like riding a bike without the peddles?

    • @TheWanderingFirefighter
      @TheWanderingFirefighter  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello! We were there in late summer/early fall. The scooter is more like a small motorcycle but you put your feet infront of you like sitting in a chair. But the throttle and all that is more similar to a motorcycle than a bike.

      We were on Exuma so it was a boat tour from Exuma. A lot of people go on this tour from Nassau and I think they either fly or take quite the boat ride to get there.

    Y’all crazy driving on Great Exuma with a scooter. I always rent a car while there.

  • @delanaespinoza
    @delanaespinoza 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You said it’s expensive. Give me a couple examples. Is it the food, flights, transportation? All of it combined?

    • @TheWanderingFirefighter
      @TheWanderingFirefighter  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Mostly just the day to day food and regular expenses. For example, a package of Oreo cookies was approximately $12 at the store we shopped out. Most food has to be imported in so there are some pretty expensive items. That said, things like fruit weren't terribly priced.

    • @TheWanderingFirefighter
      @TheWanderingFirefighter  ปีที่แล้ว

      That ain't no lie...lol...plenty of potholes and uneven roads. That said, we drove at a responsible speed, slowed way down in the rougher spots, watched out for others...and had an amazing time :)

    MY DREAM TRIP!! i WILL go there someday! I’m making a list of thugs to do while I’m there as we speak- how many days would you suggest to stay in exumas in order to do everything? More than a week?

    • @TheWanderingFirefighter
      @TheWanderingFirefighter  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We were there for about four days. It was probably enough to do most of what we wanted, but 100 days would also not be enough…haha. It is beautiful and peaceful there and I hope you have a great time!

    • @emeeul
      @emeeul 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We go in winter - zero crowds, but I don’t even know what August is like. It’s often very windy in winter. Depending on what you do, a week or so is probably good. This video was great and I hope they got to Pretty Molly Bay and the beaches in Moriah Harbour Cay National Park. You MUST rent a boat, be it power or kayak. You’re missing out of you don’t rent a boat. Also, try fly fishing for Bonefish even if you don’t like fishing. The south side of the island is also magical and very remote-feeling.
