Much more professional than other online Allbirds reviews - I appreciate you get right to the point & outline the pros & cons. I think I’ll like these as I just want a comfy walking shoe for travel & casual bushwalks! I have had a pair of Allbirds before & they’re great for comfort & look good!
Informed, thorough, relevant, well presented, organized: this review checks off each category, but when combined, makes it the one stop shop for all Allbirds reviews. Keep up the good work!
Man, you nailed it on creating a helpful, engaging, and well-edited review. Excellent work! And fantastic 24kg snatches. It is really nice seeing a professional at both the fitness and reviewing. Hats off to you.
I got the first gen while they were marked down, love them for errands and all day comfort, but the heel is pretty wide and doesn't fit in the row machine, which allows me to skip it. 🤪
Great review! I have been looking for a nice all around shoe thats easy to slip on. Something I can use to take my dogs for a walk/light jog, and also commute to work with. I tried some slip in running shoes from Puma, and after 2 months the fabric on the heel completely wore away, and plastic from the inside started digging into my heel. Now theres a complete hole in the back of the shoe, and the sole has broken away from the upper lol. I definitely need something more comfortable and durable, so I will probably give these a try. They are a bit more expensive here in Japan, but I feel like its worth it.
@@thatfitfriend I was interested in trying out the Nike Flyease shoes, but they didnt have my size (Its really difficult to find US 12 in Japan). I was also looking at Sketchers slip ons, but I felt like I would just run into the same problem with those as my Pumas that fell apart. They also dont look as nice as Allbirds. I ended up purchasing the Tree Dasher 2 a couple days ago, and I really like them so far. The only small thing is, I can feel the left heel area start to dig into my heel on longer walks just a bit. Im a little worried that might get worse over time, but I might just wear thicker socks, or maybe it will go away as I break them in more.
@@JohnnyVichi gotcha - these are pretty good, the On Cloud X or 5 are also some of my favorites for all-day wear and they have a more refined look to them.
Great review. I just walk and looking to replace my NB Beacons and these are on my list. Wondering about the way the sole sticks out at the heel and if it would interfere with driving a stick (clutch).
These look like a casual knit version of the Pegasus 38. I’m so tempted to wear my 38s casually but don’t want to put unnecessary mileage on my running shoes. I may have to check these out. 🧐
That's a really good way of looking at these, honestly! They're a good shoe, IMO. I feel like they get more flack from hardcore runners for their abilities, but at the end of the day, I don't put them in the same category as something like a Pegasus because they can be so casual and work in different settings.
@@thatfitfriend They look like a really good casual shoe to me. One that can handle a bit of running if you need to chase after kids or a dog 😆 because they all run nonstop! 😮💨
They're not bad, but I think you could find comfier shoes with a lower drop that may feel better for a lot of standing. A good alternative to explore, check out the UA SlipSpeed model. They're easy to slip on and off, have a lower drop, and should work well for indoor wear!
I’ve been running 5 days a week (on the treadmill) with my original AB Tree Dashers. Do you have a recommendation for a shoe more geared towards indoor running? I like the fit and feel of my ABTD. But if there is something better, I’d love to know. Thanks so much.
I’m a big proponent of, “if it’s not broke, don’t fit it”, if you enjoy them and you’re not noticing any discomfort/performance decrease, then I wouldn’t worry about that until it’s time to cross that bridge! For example, if they start breaking or getting uncomfortable then a pivot could be useful. Just my thoughts here, but if you want, I can suggest other options that are solid based on your running context!
@@thatfitfriend thanks so much. I went ahead and bought the ABTD2 today. Going to give them a go tomorrow. But I am still very interested in some recommendations.
If $140 and "lower your expectations" is good, then what counts as bad? lol. These are actually very similar to the Skechers Ultraflex shoes, which are half the price. Although I'd say the Skechers probably don't last as long as the sole is more flexible and softer so the treads wear down quicker, but they are also around 20% lighter, which is actually pretty significant in the long run. So maybe not even subjectively, but objectively one could say it's a better shoe, even if it doesn't last as long. It will certainly last at least a year, and probably 2 years, even as a main and only shoe worn. And lasting less time isn't necessarily a bad thing, as you at least get that new shoe look and new sole cushiness twice, while most shoes will get a worn down look after a years use anyways. And when it comes to softer sole shoes, those do tend to reduce in cushiness after several months anyways. And they're full slip-on's, no lace tying required.
When did you say true size is that means to take the same size? , if you don’t know they change the size! , For tree dasher 1, for example, size 10 was 27 cm, now size 9 is 27 cm !!
@@thatfitfriend They make me confused after they change the size sheet, could you confirm for me, that you had Tree dasher 1 and 2, did you get the same size on both and it does fit right?
Loved this review, Jake! I love my pair of the first versions but these look compelling as well. The colorway you got looks awesome too. Hopefully Allbirds continues to make athletic shoes. On a separate note, I’m thinking about doing kettlebell workouts on busy days where I don’t have time to do a full workout I normally do. Would love to see what movements you do with kettlebells.
Thank you for the feedback! These are solid and I think you'd like them, especially if you like the first pair. That's a great idea - any thoughts on the flow of that video? I'm pretty simple with my KB work and it's primarily swings, snatches, and carries on my cross-training days, but I'm down to put something together for the channel!
@@thatfitfriend I’m definitely considering them now, especially after this review. KB work is pretty unknown to me so I don’t really know much about it. I have some KBs in my garage I’m going to bring into the house so I can bang out some workouts on days where I’m slammed. I’m personally a barbell/dumbbell/cable machine guy so it would be great to know what to expect in terms of how much weight to use, progression and all that. I also love how you break down what muscles are worked with what workouts so it would be great to see that with KB work so if I have a busy week and do more of these short KB workouts, I’ll know what muscle areas to focus once I’m back doing my usual full workouts, if that makes sense. And of course, what other workouts to pair KB work. It seems like functional fitness and plyometrics exercises would pair well. Hope that helps! I just really like the way you present your workout videos so seeing that with KB work would be awesome. And not sure if you’re a Broncos fan but… RUSS!!!
I love my Tree Dashers 1 and really happy to see these new ones are having more grip and a better heel construction! Really curious how long my Tree Dashers 1 will last until I will replace them with a new model 🤔
The whole carbon footprint thing is misleading though, basically a downright lie. Why is that? Because If you're paying more for a shoe, you're generating carbon to make the money required to pay more. That's the catch, and it's a big one. So the higher cost completely nullifies any carbon offsets, and then some. If it only costs them like $50 in actual costs to make the shoe, and you're paying twice more than a comparable shoe, then you can say the carbon footprint to make that extra money to pay that price, basically doubles the actual carbon footprint of the shoe.
