    Get ready to get even more busy AF there Gary. If someone is doing a full rebuild on a 09 Pontiac G6 that means cars are getting really expensive.

    Great video sir! I appreciate your identifying each of the parts as they were removed and disassembled. It's clear you're a master of these mystery cases!

    I'm about to work on an 06 Cobalt that will not roll backwards at all, and the CV axle on the pass side flops around loosely inside the transmission. Your video gave me the knowledge of what to expect upon teardown. Appreciate it!

    great video! I'm doing my first overhaul on this same transmission. Taking my time and actually enjoying it! Putting it all back together slowly. Why is there a black link on the chain that goes on the turbine shaft? Is there a certain way this chain has to go back on?

    • @GaryFerraro
      @GaryFerraro  หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is just an I.D mark, no certain way chain has to go on

      @@GaryFerraro thank you! Perhaps you can answer another question. Wasn't paying attention when I disassembled the direct clutches. There are 5 friction plates but 7 steel plates. You space them starting with steel, then friction then steel. But I'm left with 2 steels left over plus backing plate. I know the backing plate is the last on before your snap ring. If I don't incorporate those two steel spacers there's quite a bit of play until clutches engage on backing plate and I didn't pay attention to how they came off. Should I double the extra spacers right before backing plate or were they down at the piston side before you place a friction plate? Also, the banner kit didn't come with a new case gasket (the big paper gasket between case and spacers plate, not the bonded gasket). Do I reuse the old one?

    • @GaryFerraro
      @GaryFerraro  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@keithlong2788 hmm, is there a wave steel all the way at the bottom against the piston? The kit should come with the gasket, you should call them. I'm assuming you looked i the box or inbetween any cardboard sheets

    • @keithlong2788
      @keithlong2788 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GaryFerraro oh yeah I went through everything looking. The kit was sealed up too! I did order one. As far as a wavy plate, no there are no wavy plates in the direct/coast assembly. Just flat ones. On the kit instructions it states some models may have 4 or 5 sets of plates not 6. Kit comes with 6 friction so not sure why they give you the 6th one if you don't need it. Well I know I have 5 because I'm counting the old ones. But why 7 steels? Unless they put 2 of them stacked at the top under the backing plate to take up the extra clearance. I can send you pics of what I mean if you have messenger or email. I really need to get this back together asap. And thank you for your time I'm sure you are very busy!

      Very strange that it happens cold, but check the transmission vent, may be clogged

    Hi. I have a leak on my 07 G6 trans. Based on your video i think the leak might be coming from the vehicle speed sensor area, that seems to be the area its dripping from. It leaks after the car is shut off. I just replaced the gasket and fluid. It wasnt leaking from the pan after I got done with that, checked it after an overnight, and now two days later after driving more i have a leak. Not sure if its coming from the pan or above the pan. Thanks for the video

    • @aaronbenton7
      @aaronbenton7 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GasperMechanic hi. I figured out my leak wasn't coming from the trans. It was actually coolant, mixing with oil because I had a small oil leak too so the coolant was dripping off and mixing with oil. I fixed the coolant leak, but then it sprung another leak somewhere. I was chasing leaks and it got to be too overwhelming so I got rid of it. I have a new car now, buick lacrosse with the 3.8L. 79,000 miles on it now. Thanks for the reply!

    Thank you so much for this video one question though if you could help me I have an 2006 Ion with this trans and it goes into gear and drives strong but it wont shift past 2nd gear every now and then it will go into 3rd but then it drops to like a neutral state. Any idea what this might be? I was thinking shift solenoid?

    That looks like a pain in the ass. I want mine to last as long as possible. I'm changing the fluid and filter every 10 to 15,000

    Question, I have a 2003 Saturn L200 with the 4T40E transmission and it has an issue with the passenger side of the transmission. It shakes upon acceleration and at speeds above 50 mph, violently. It's not the wheels or suspension, it's coming from the transmission itself. I have replaced the CV axle, put a new seal and sleeve in, plus new locking clips. It made no difference. It also seems to have trouble moving that wheel on hills. It'll shutter for a second upon acceleration. I'm wondering if there's a bushing inside that diff that has blown. There seems to be more than the normal play inside the transmission. My partner used to have a 2005 Cobalt with the same exact problem.

    • @GaryFerraro
      @GaryFerraro  7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      No , not a bushing problem, any play in the axle? sure it's not struts

    • @Jonathan-bk3dq
      @Jonathan-bk3dq 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@GaryFerraro no play on the new axle. Both struts and control arm on the passenger side, are new. Brakes are good. Wheel hub and bearing is original. Driver side CV axle is original. Could it be I’m feeling the driver side one and it’s traveling? Driver side one is corroded bad. Also, previous owner smacked a curb hard with the passenger side and that’s why I changed out everything, except the wheel bearing, which is quiet. I’m stumped, it shakes the steering wheel bad.

    How are you dear. I have a 2008 Cobalt with a 2.2 engine and an automatic transmission. There is a problem: when I start driving the car, the transmission gear becomes hard shifting after driving for 5 minutes. When I turn off the car and restart it and drive it again, the transmission becomes normal and smooth. But after continuing to drive the car for 10 minutes, the transmission returns to becoming hard shifting, knowing that there is a code p1811.what do you think about this problem .

    • @GaryFerraro
