    Great take by Button on the scout role and the mock draft

    Eiserman is 6’ and 197 at 17 years old. He likely gets to 6’1-6’2 and likely 205. That’s a good size winger that can score goals. I don’t see why he wouldn’t be a great pick. Especially under Marty.

    Calling Suzuki small because he doesn't meet the arbitrary 6' threshold is such a braindead take... The guy weighs 212 lbs, not only is he heavier than some guys who are 6'3", but he plays a solid, and STRONG game on the puck.

    What's the deal with Demidov ? Isn't there a " situation in Russia " anymore ?

    • @powers1500
      @powers1500 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is always a certain risk to be drafting player from Russia vs other leagues...I thinks he might possibly fall a few spots because of that "russian factor"...I don't see a top3 team "risking" their pick on a russian player since they will not have any inputs on his development until he come over... !!!

    • @rgood1204
      @rgood1204 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Didn't you hear, the "russian factor" only applies to Matvei Michkov. None of the other russians drafted in 2023 or available in 2024 deal with that "factor."

      @@rgood1204 All elite russian players usually find a way to make it out of Russia to play in the NHL...it just a matter of time. It the recent draft years, they usually fall a few spots because....of the russian factor !!!

    There are more chances to get the player you want at 5th versus 8th; same thing for winning the lottery, so we can't say it does not matter where Montreal will finish !!!

    • @rgood1204

      This fan base appears to be allergic to elite forward talent. They have made the "safe pick" too often and the results are evident. Not a top 10 scorer in almost 40 years.

      @powers1500 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@rgood1204 HuGo 's plan is to do an accelarated rebuild....so we can't expect them to draft elite talent while winning that many meaningless games; they will possibly draft Tij Iginla. Apparently, Montreal already talked to him a few times. Tij is very good but not elite, same for Slaf, Reinbacher, Dach and Newhook !!!

  • @Burst006

    I think « small teams can’t win in the playoff » is historically accurate. But for every rule, there is an exception. Intelligence and heart can, I think, overcome size. Plus, look at the 2021 lightning team : Kucherov, Point, Gourde, Johnson, Coleman, were 5.11, 5.10, 5.9, 5.8 and 5.11, and all of them were key parts of the Stanley cup. In a couple years, Montreal would have Suzuki, Caufield, Newhook and Hutson under 6 feets, with a heavy defense and huge forwards in the likes of Dach, Slafkovsky, Armia, Anderson. We will be all right.

    • @adamCarter20

      Dach is soft a hell tho, and next year will be his last chance, if he gets hurt again, he'll be gone.

    Hot take: we trade ghule, pick 25(wpg) and beck/Roy for zegras and we draft best forward available at 7oa. We have reinbacher,mailloux,Hutson,engstrom and konyushkov coming up very soon and guys like Harris,barron,struble and kovacevic that can plug holes. I love ghule but his value will never be as high as it is now because I don't see him hitting 40+ points in montreal.

      This has to be the worst trade package for Zegras I have seen since the rumours started… give your head a shake man, Guhle will be a 30-40 point D man his value will be higher than it is now and I wouldn’t even do that trade 1 for 1 lmao… I take Guhle over Zegras in a playoff series every single day of the week and anyone that knows anything about hockey would as well…. Just absolute garbage. Habs Draft Iginla or Eiserman this team will be cooking up something great and trading Joshua Roy is absolutely hilarious as well especially for a player like Zegras… Roy has way more grit and heart, Plays a Two way game, Can kill penalties, Has a better shot and is heavier than Zegras….
      Iginla/Eiserman Suzuki Slafkovsky
      Caufield Dach Roy/trade or FA like Necas
      That’s a great top 6… Habs have been linked to Necas and it’s very likely Carolina may have to trade Necas because of all the players they have to sign…

      You must be a ducks fan..Ghule alone I wouldn't trade for Zegras lol never mind the pick or other players which is crazy plus I wouldnt want him on my team anyway. We are getting bigger and special playoffs you can't have to many small guys if you want to go deep in them..enjoy your Ducks team

      @@alanhannah5113 ask every other team in the league who they would value higher and they all say zegras. The fact that ghule would be the main piece in a trade for zegras means that teams do value ghule but if you want a 60+ point forward you'll have to add some pieces with ghule. You can be biased all you want and you can dislike zegras but don't lie to yourself and say ghule is worth more.

    • @alanhannah5113
      @alanhannah5113 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Sorry bud .Ghule is worth way more as a top pairing D with Size and grit plus his skating is a factor over a small forward that will be worn out in a long playoff Run.You also want to give up a first rounder and Roy..what are you smoking because you need to stop.Zegras is not that great and this conversation is for nothing because the Habs wouldn't make a ridiculous trade Like that lol

      @justinlocke8390 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes you can. You still want your late round picks in the 20’s to be NHL players. You can’t expect them to be top 6F or top 4D but regular NHL’ers is a reasonable expectation.

      I guess you may be right! Ive done my researched and Gomez arrived during the summer of 2009 and it seems Bob was still GM. Pierre Gauthier arrived the year after! Though in 2003 Pierre Gauthier became the Scouting Director and in 2006 became the GM assistant. So I guess they both are to blame for this mistake. But thanks for clarifying! My bad! @@rgood1204
