My respect and adoration for Robert Downey Jr. just hit an all time high. Let him who is without sin throw the first stone. At 46 I am still amazed at how many people want to throw stones as soon as they have an excuse. What a disgusting side of humanity is displayed when a man greater than many of us, with greater contributions to culture and entertainment than many of us, is the target of mindless rants and allegations of his wrong-doing. abdinoorful Who are you to say that Gibson is no to be respected? Who are you to say that he should be forgiven? What are you, Jesus? Who are you to say that Gibson is a psycho? Are you a psychiatrist? You draw your conclusions from a phone conversation between two people, one of them being obviously emotionally involved, and the other so cold and calculated, so that she had the presence of mind to record that conversation, in order to use this to her benefit? This is a woman who was obviously only after Gibson's money, and moreover, she invested in this relationship, in order to gain the side-effects of fame. This woman was after fame and money, but didn't have a single creative atom in her body, and the only way she knew how to get what she wanted, was NOT through actual WORK, but by lying flat on her back, like any ordinary prostitute.
Mel Gibson is an incredible artist and his whole life is a testimony to his art - he is also human - well what a surprise !!!
Where is your artistic contribution? I really like know, but while you haven't produced anything of artistic value, pull your head in, and learn to have some respect for people who have produced valuable art - you arrogant little shithead. !!!!

You can see John Landis in the audience Downey is addressing at 1:18. If anyone deserves to be onstage begging for forgiveness it's that negligent fuck who got children killed because he didn't want to take the proper precautions when making a movie.
Hollywood can forgive people like Landis who killed children, Matthew Broderick who killed two people in a driving accident and never apologized to their family, and Roman Polanski who drugged and raped a little girl, but forgiving Mel Gibson for saying bad things about the Jews while drunk is just too much, huh?

John Landis used two kids in a movie stunt when he really used have been using professional extras, and he didn't take the legal safety precautions, and there was an accident and the kids were killed. Btw what happened with Broderick was clearly an accident and we don't know he never talked to the family.

Think this is a beautiful display of humanity. It's been a well-known thing now that Mel Gibson is bipolar, so I think some of his crazy rants are almost not a surprise (that doesn't mean he wasn't wrong in saying those things). However, what Robert Downey Jr. said that Mel did was absolutely inspiring, and just proves to the rest of us that we can't judge people by what they do on their worst days...
    Truly touching...

@@elitesam7789 the issue is that Mel wanted to get Passion of the Christ made but no studio wanted to give him money for it. For obvious reasons given their origin. So he decided to basically finance it from his own pockets. Mel had problems before making it, during making it and after making it. Cops were randomly called on him constantly at his house in the middle of the night cause some people thought his movie would cause rampant ant-semitism. Then one day cops arrested him for drunk driving and the cop said Mel went on an anti-semitist rant linking o Hollywood. At that point if you think they were unfair with him before, now the full might of Jewish Hollywood went at him. He was basically black listed for a decade. Just for a drunken rant. Hell just the fact that the cop reported the rant seems fishy to me. And them punishing him for it sort of proved him right.

In 12 hours you came to several conclusions about a human being. The guy was very nice to you and others, you also said he was shy, then you called him a sad man with his own demons. It seems to me that is very hard to find out what a shy man is about even if you had a lot more than 12 hours with hi. Simply because shy people do not share what they are about. If what you saw was a shy man that was very nice to you and others then stop there and keep the stuff you concluded in just 12 hours with nothing to back up your conclusions to yourself specially when the guy as you said was very nice to you and others.
