Got one to start soon. decals tapped to the window (getting some UV's) in readiness. I had seen an article that 'Mild n Bitter' was not plain OD on the upper surfaces. However, I was Expecting OD with Med Green at the edges of Wings, etc. Not the scheme as shown on your Super B-26.
Jan.7,1945, one on a training mission crash in the sea near a the small fishing village of Rocky Point,Jamaica killing all on board. Fishermen from the village race to the seen in their skull boats in an attempt to save lives but all had died. US personals from Vernam Field wear the plane was based ( some 10 miles away) descended on the village in large numbers collecting evidence and salvaging the wreck but on a hold the villagers were left in the dark. I've researched it and way able to identify the plane and crew and I have found eye witnesses that were children at the time but saw it went down. I would like to build a model of that trainer to show them but have very little information on what it look like. It was a TB-26 C model #41-35096 of the 36 AAF AIRWAY DETACH (a training unit).
Just cracked open this kit after sitting in storage for years. I'm actually pretty impressed with the quality given its age. My only concern is the decal sheet. Did you use the originals? Are they any good?
Hi, yes I did, I think they had yellowed with age but a couple of days taped to the inside of a window pane soon bleached them and they were good as new. Would recommend using 'Future' before applying them to avoid any silvering, let them soak in water till they're quite soft and so that they conform to the surface since they are a bit on the thick side, use a setting solution afterwards so that they blend in better with curved surfaces and/or panel lines
The cool thing about hobbies is that they are personal, and everybody finds different things entertaining and fun. Perhaps you should put down rc planes and fly real planes, I hear that’s real fun
