I have a quiz in class later today about this book 💀 i wasn't paying attention when it was read, so now I'm trying to cram it all into my brain last second
Things to do while listening to help remember and pass time: -Color in a coloring book, crochet, play with play dough, anything to keep your hands busy that won’t distract you from listening. -Sketch out the story as you listen to it, add fun fonts and titles or little explanations for the sketches. -After listening/reading find a small child (if you don’t have access to one just pretend) and give an appropriate summary to the child so that they would be able to understand. Use simple words and phrases, dumb it down. This will actually help you retain what you’ve read.
Yes i am a highschooler but im reading this for fun and your voices some of them are rather unexpected but they are so fun and different i always know who's talking so i dont need the book in front of me
English is my second language and listening to audiobooks help me understand the book and pronunciations better. This is one of the most resourceful channel that I have been able to find on TH-cam. The chapters are very well organized and I appreciate the little headings (partitions) that The Essential Reads has made. I listened to the Catcher in the Rye audiobook as well and Enjoyed the ending remarks that The Essential Reads made. Thank You for putting so much effort into your audiobooks. 😇
I am a freshman in high school. For my English 9 final I have to write an essay about both Romeo and Juliet and The Great Gatsby. When my teacher read this book in class, I kept falling asleep. Now I am here, 4 days before the final is due, without a single word on my google docs trying to get as much info as I can to write about this book.
@@TheEssentialReads oh, sorry it wasn’t a complaint. Dankpods uses the same song to measure and compare headphones, so when I heard it I thought of that. Just a funny coincidence
I mean it became a classic because his sold his books to the Military. During WWII there wasn’t a whole lot else to read. It didn’t become a classic because it’s an amazing book, it became a classic because everyone at war read it
Because Gatsby claims to have gone to Oxford, a very prestigious British University. Also at the time where the book is set, the English accent was seen as very fancy and I thought that Gatsby would try to hype himself up even more by sounding british. Bold choice I know, but i stand by it
multitasking two assignments by using this to "read" gatsby while i write my other assignments 😭 thank you
You've got this!!!

Everyone gets mad at me when I say this and tells me to “Respect a classic” but I don’t like this book at all
I mean it became a classic because his sold his books to the Military. During WWII there wasn’t a whole lot else to read.
It didn’t become a classic because it’s an amazing book, it became a classic because everyone at war read it

How are the guests that nick made a list of significant (6)
They aren't to the plot. It's just to say that all of these fancy people come to Gatsby's parties

I'll admit that I went more English than trans-Atlantic, but seeing as how Gatsby was a con-man I really thought it suited
