Ontario and First Nations sign deal for Ring of Fire development - January 28, 2025

Ontario Premier Doug Ford speaks with reporters in Toronto before signing an agreement with the Aroland First Nation. The deal supports infrastructure upgrades along the Ring of Fire, a mineral-rich region in the province’s far north.
Also taking part in the news conference are Greg Rickford, the minister of Indigenous affairs and First Nations economic reconciliation, Will Bouma, Rickford’s parliamentary assistant, and Sonny Gagnon, chief of Aroland First Nation.
The premier faces questions from the press about the upcoming provincial election, which is expected to be called later in the day.
