Goa is good for people who love water sports, sea beaches, casino, seafood and lots of local brew apart from regular alcohol drinks. It's full of fun and local people are very nice and easy going. Overall nice place for a 3 days to one week family vacation. I have been there thrice and my family enjoyed it very much even though we are strict vegetarian .
People who go to Goa once fall in its eternal love which makes them come again and again and then again and so on.

yes, Panaji will be about 5-10% more expensive that hinterland of Goa . Timing is critical for Goa, since the economy is heavily dependent on tourism , the peak season of tourism ( Nov-Feb) makes it expensive, and from 20th december to 10th jan things like food and transport wud be expensive for tourists. but overall not much significant difference in rent, Parking and other charges.

I have been in goa more than 200 times.Travelling n exploring Goa is completely upto you. you can get super cheap Accomodation ,food and fun , but also world class facility is also there.

I am from Panaji Goa, my Father was born during Portuguese time and his schooling was in Portuguese language, He has Portuguese passport. Panaji is not so expensive city, food, groceries, fish, meat all are reasonable. Famous Goan people are Lata Mangeshkar, Remo De'souza, Amrita Rao, Manohar Parrikar. Goans speak Konkani, English, Portuguese, Marathi. Most of the Old houses in Goa are built according to Portuguese architecture, new houses in Goa are more modern. Goa received 10 Million Foreigner tourist in a year and 150 million domestic tourist a year. Goa has 45 beaches and 3 wildlife sanctuaries. Rohit shetty does most of his movie shooting in Goa. Dil Chata hai movie shooting was in Goa and I along with my school friends had gone to watch the movie shooting in Chapora fort. Golmaal, Dear Zindagi, Singham, Finding Fanny, Malang, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Dilwale, Khamoshi: The Musical, Ladies vs Ricky Bahl movie were shot in Goa.
India Konkan area are god gift beautiful by naturely in all seasons from gujrat, Mumbai Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, pondicherry, tamilnadu, Orissa, to Bangal in Kolkata this is our and my india that is why British does want to rules in India ( bride of gold)
I am a native Goan. Although I stay in South, I travel to Panaji often, like once a week atleast. Some points I thought I would clarify. The Portuguese houses that you see are now more of a relic from the past. These houses are concentrated in the Mala and Fontainhas neighbourhoods in Panaji and towards the coastal regions. New constructions are not Portuguese styled. Goa looks small on the map (and geographically it is compared to other states in India) but there is a lot to see beyond the beaches and the nightlife. Panaji is just 8.27 sq. km in area in a 3702 sq. km. state.
Definitely visit Goa, and do not confine yourself to the beaches and nightlife as most of the tourists do (trust me that not even 5% of what Goa has to offer). Its a spectacular state and very diverse.
And that statue is of Dr. Francisco Luis Gomes, a writer, physician and a MP in Portguese Parliament from 1861 to 1869, who was born in Navelim village in South Goa.

Panjim is a busy city like others and nothing important is there.... most of the sites in this video are not from Panjim...you must hire a scotty\bike and explore whole Goa ... the small roads full of greenery, littlie villages full of colorful houses and Konkani culture...Beaches masti is awesome but to visit Goa on two wheeler is tremendous... you can visit Goa in 10000 or 10 lacs it depends on you...must visit via non AC train in monsoon season from Mumbai to Goa to feel the magic of nature...Everybody should visit Goa in lifetime...every time when we go there, we feel new and a lots of places which we often see fist time even after many visits.. Beaches are full of masti but the real enjoyment of Goa is somewhere else...like there are lots of gift by nature...visited many times but not feeling complete.. every visit is new...
