What about rattlegore doesn't have the highest base stats but has the highest total stats due to its resurrection effect

@@Skrek-qw1jz my retort is the wording on the cards since dreadsteed says to at the end of your turn to summon a dreadsteed as in a "different" dreadsteed while rattlegore's text says to resummon 'this' with -1/-1 but let's be real I'm just saying semantics
The ancient one is, but not a collectible card. Just like chonky jade golem.
I believe that 🅱️ancient one actually costs 9 mana and jades can only go to 30/30 and cost caps at 10 mana. So the 🅱️ancient one has better stats for the cost. Just felt like throwing this out there for some reason.

@@Begeru wrong, it was played quite a bit to counter reno priest. It was good vs Reno itself and Kazakus but preventing your opponent from getting the 5/5 out was the main reason. Priest was a menace back then because of the DK
The Darkness was actually used for a while as an Anti-Reno tech, both because it took Reno effects online, but also because by the time it was awakened, most Reno Decks were VERY low on fuel, so this was usually helpful in ending games
What did it do? I've never heard of it.

You will switch the stats of The Darkness and the stonetusk boar. Resulting in a 1 mana 20/20 Charge, which you can then copy it with Vivid Nightmare. Which in results enables OTK as early as turn 4.
And did i mention that you can actually coin switcheroo in turn 2
And at turn 3 you can divine spirit the boar and use topsy turvy on it resulting in a 40/20 by turn 3?

Honestly could probably be unbanned and be fine, having to assemble yet another piece before being disrupted feels like it makes the deck pretty bad
@@peterkirk8510 not really, the deck already runs a 2x hp and flip, it would make it slightly less consistent and fast but not more fun to play against. They don't really like deck that make the game a solo game (i.e. you win or lose because of your draws, not what your opponent does).

@@satibel would make it a lot less consistent + the slower that deck goes, the higher the failrate is, not just on its own, but to a card like rat + removal, or even just a few taunts. The solo game thing is kinda a fair point, but I think it will be unbanned once it’s out of standard still. Generally the target decks that are good enough to see widespread play + have bad play patterns for wild

There may be some shenanigans to do with the Darkness, like transferring his stats onto another minion directly from the deck. Like it was possible to do with Switcheroo before it's nerf. Now, it's just the health that gets traded, but it can still be strong.

Darkness was a reasonable Highlander or heavy draw counter both of which were around when he came out.
I like how the way you say it makes think it takes multiple expansions to resolve the effect, which mean when it's finally awake the meta has become crazy enough than an 4 mana 20/20 is useless.

It could work with a mill deck. Since then you would force your enemy to draw a ton of cards. And it would help deal with whatever they drew
Forgot to mention the honorables of C'Thun and Jades. Minions with pseudo-infinite stats due to their archetype synergy.

The darkness really shined fighting against highlander decks. Baiting people to use their reno or Kazakus because "I forgot there were candles in mt deck."

I remember playing a game against darkness where with about 20 or so cards in my deck, I managed to draw all three candles in a row on the same turn and just lost.

It was actually a very decent tournament card at the time since there waz raza priest and the candles wouldn't let them play the raza, while if they draw the 2 candles to be able to activate it they would be prety likely to draw the last one since the deck had so much draw
No charge/rush/protection so when awakened it was a sitting duck. Also if the opponent burned the cande from max hand size then you just payed 4 mana to have a 6 minion field.

Fantomas is a collectible 15/15 for 30 mana, biggest card in terms of mana cost atleast

honestly speaking, i have loved darkness since the release of kobolds and catacombs and have tried to push it into any wild decks i could, but unfortunately he is never awakened and i usually just lose instead

I have a faint memory of a giant that costed 50 mana and it eather was 20 20 or a 30 30 and had the effect whenever you take damage reduce its cost by 1 i only know this because it showed up in the collection as an uncraftable card and it was in an adventure but it stil showed up i remember this was back in frosen throne

The highest uncollectable minion is nefarian from tavern brawl, who is a 0/200 for 200 total stats

Technically the 0 mana 1/1 does have the most stats for the cost, 0 is literally the ultimate value.

A 9 mana 45/45 Rattlegore (over its 9 bodies) is equal in stats, at 5 stat points per mana spent, in comparison to the Dankness...
With lightforged cariell for paladin I would get a minion to 35/35, wouldn't always work, but it was intimidating.
People have easily gotten way higher
