@@margarethmichelina5146 You can tell by her testimonials that she doesn't have a whole lot upstairs. She worked for a resort kitchen too. If you've ever been in a shitty resort's kitchen, cooking (and overcooking) everything you might expect for the day at the very beginning is the least egregious thing they probably could be doing.
@@ArcticTriumph technically she didn't overcook them, she just cook them way ahead of time that the filets are all going to be overcooked when they need them. She messed up the procedure rather than the cook of the meat. Melissa has the habit of messing up a gianormous amount of food when on the show, this is her first time, but not the last lol
She did the same with scallops the next service on the blue team, she was actually not a bad chef apart from the steaks mishap which is why gordon gave her a chance, he did the same with roshni in season 10 but she survived a bit longer due to the blue team having other worse chefs
Melissa overcooking the filets is probably what sealed her fate in HK. Yeah she stayed a little longer but I think her time was up and she was lucky there were still a lot of rubbish chefs around at the midway point of that season. A mistake like that could literally sink a business. Any money they would have made that night if they were a business instead of a competition would have been completely offset by Melissa's mistake and any restaurant owner will tell you that a few bad weekends can close the doors.

Even so, you still have to admit that's a rather costly mistake, and in an industry as tough as this, i dont think any sensible business owner will take a chance at keeping a chef who just wasted a ton of their inventory in one night.
Although I’m sure being a connoisseur chef isn’t an easy career path in the slightest, I can assure you it’s not this chaotic and dramatic either lol it’s a TV show, it’s all exaggerated.

As much as annoying Sabrina is, ironically she's one of the most talented cooks on Red Team Season 8 along with Jillian and Gail, but people remember her being annoying more. Gail lose her confidence later, Jillian is too passive and simply not ready being a head chef, Sabrina acts immature all the time. Even the winner, Nona is tottaly inconsistent!

Think it’s fairly clear that Ramsay knew that Nona was probably going to win this season, the amount of times he questions her when service goes bad and needs a recovery or on eliminations etc gives a good indication
I'm fairly sure that Ramsey enters a few handpicked chefs into the competition that he knows are the winning candidates. The rest are fillers for drama and fodder to be yelled at.
I don't get why Nona was so convinced that Melissa was the best cook on that season's red team when the overcooked filets were just one of many stupid mistakes that Melissa made.
Emily, Melissa, and Boris have performances that couldve eliminated them in the 1st service easy in any other season. But this season was so bad in so many levels that even the worstest 2 in some seasons couldve made black jackets here.
Yeah, but Lisa was in over her head that time. She didn’t realize that the pan is not hot enough. Even Chef Ramsay asked her, “WHAT’S HAPPENING HERE?!” It wasn’t in his screaming tone that time he asked that.
If someone says they need one minute on the food, then give them one minute. It is far better if the table waits a minute or two extra then you have to refire *everything* for the table.

How did Nona won the season while Russel is runner-up? He is the better chef. And it was proven when Nona only lasted 1 year at her prize, the Head Chef at JW Marriot Hotel and became a corporate catering chef later on. Russel went on to open up a chain of steakhouses which all got great reviews.
