I think the first Madonna music video you reacted to was Who's That Girl, right? This song is melancholic and sad because it's about a girl begging and pleading with her man to love her like she deserves a lot better and to not keep pushing or abusing her love over the borderline. For me I relate this song to my relationship or lack thereof with my father. You should react to her songs from the beginning to the most recent in order for you to understand her evolution as an artist.
I see this song as a total example of the way the psychology of attraction works. She is infatuated with him and he is acting indifferent. Perfect example that when going after a woman (early on in dating), the number one killer of her interest is the guy showing too much interest in the woman.
To be honest, nobody likes it when someone comes on way too strongly in the beginning. It's annoying and you haven't allowed yourself to open up or get comfortable around that person yet.
