the deal killer for me with the icon is that you cant simply swap out to a fresh battery when it does, you have to charge the whole light and you are without light till it charges, i have been using the old braun for a few years now, and i have had the new one for about a month, so far no complaints at all

IMO, the only reason for the 700 lumens of the Icon is to offset bright sunlight. Personally, too much light is just as bad as not enough. 390-500 lumens is fine.

The fact that the icon has a memory switch makes it FAR superior to the Braun.

I have two of the older 390 lumen Braun lights that I keep in the cars. I wish the 500 lumen ones had come out before I bought those. I also recently bought the Icon one. I’ve only used it once so far but it worked well.

I have the old Braun and its been great. Only trouble is when it dies it takes time to recharge. I do like the Icon though

They accept standard 18650 batteries, so I got a couple of extras and a stand alone charger from Amazon, worked out well.

Great vid, yea every time those brauns would go on sale it’s hard to get a hold of here, they run out pretty quick during sales. Ended up just giving up and going with Streamlight

Can I use unprotected cells in this without the risk of overcharging or discharge using the usbc or when flashlight sits and has parasitic discharge from the switch?

The non-replacable battery is a deal breaker. The HF electronics are a good value but the quality is low so making the unit ever harder to fix is very bad!
The positive thing about having a replaceable battery was that when the flashlight changing circuit kaput, I could just charge the battery in an 18650 cell charger.

Why do you only show the back of the lights it would be nice to see the front of the lights when you are comparing them so we can see the comparents of the light bar together in length like what size is the light bar in inches

The braun runs on all the 18650s but does it charge all kinds of 18650 or only the one it comes with?
