Adding colloidal silver a gallon a day at a time before you leave will keep it from getting yucky again next time. I use it in my animals water dishes, fountains, bird baths, and pools and I don't need a chlorinator anymore.
Whoa, the lights dimmed in Montana when you turned that bad boy on.....The Ezekiel 1:20 wheel is a keeper, and the 48 inch version would make Ezekiel drool; plus what if you drop something in there? You want to be able to see it, and a 32 inch won't cut it. And next time we definitely want to see the frog pond upgrade to sparking clear blue water...
We only use one jug of shock at the beginning of the season. The main reason ours went green is the breaker blew while we were on a vacation. Outside of that levels stay pretty constant!

I loose power completely when they turn on the hoop light.
