  • Here we take a closer look at the details of the handwelted lazyman brogue by Yearn shoemaker, an exciting new brand out of China.
    The shoes are impressive, to say the least, even more so when you hear they cost under $450.

    I contacted Yearn, they said they can add both the Topy and Trimiph plates, which is what I'm going to go with.

      @@theshoesnob_official What I've noticed is too, is that they hammer on their topy plates. I don't think they glue it on which is a huge plus point. I seen a video where they peel of topy plate and the leather sole is slightly ruined. Maybe it'd still be, but wait and find out I guess!!! Their Y07 and Y08 last works well with me. I haven't quite tried the other lasts as I know they're more narrower and I just haven't got around to trying them yet.
      I think they nailed whole split toe look with extremely masculine looking lasts, they look so cool.
      I'm thinking of their monkstraps, lazyman shoe, maybe derbies? I really like the derbies with the split toe, clearly looks bespoke to the untrained eye regardless of how subtle the colors are. I think they're an amazing value company considering you can basically get any bespoke design and all of it is handwelted. What I love about their Lazyman, is that it actually looks black at night, but in the night time you can appreciate the patinas.

    I think I should get a pair of layman shoes. Very handy for taking on and off quickly as I live in Shanghai and we don't wear shoes in the house.

    Are they comfortable? I do not like my big toe being pushed inside and don't want to end up with a bunion.

      @theshoesnob_official  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats quite subjective. Comfortble to me might not be for you, especially with what you are saying about your big toe

      @@theshoesnob_official Thanks for your answer. I am quite "at ease" with Edward Green 82 (where I can wear half a size down), some Alessandro Sartori GY Berluties (Leonard and the likes), Zonkey Boot Sailor and Saint Crispin's Sailor (great arch support). I need my big toe being as straight as possible and the only cheap shoes that provided me that are Birkenstocks. There used to be very descent looking shoes out there starting from 130 euros but I am fed up having sore feet. Any advice?

      @@mignotmaxime2409 advice if these will be comfortable for you? I simply cannot tell you that. Again, comfort is subjective. Just because something is for me doesnt mean it will be for you. And considering you have issues with your toes I simply cannot give you a definitive answer. All you can do is try and see. And hope they accept returns if they dont work out. The toe box was roomy. Thats what I can say.

      @@theshoesnob_official Thank you for the info about the toe box! I did not meant if they were comfortable to me but the common link between the different shapes I mentionned is that the big toe is left more or less straight ; with a shape a bit more on the right-angled triangle side than the isocel triangle side.

    There are no things like "incredible prices for Chinese shoes".
    Because someone has to pay the price - and there is little guessing who that someone is: the lowly paid worker, probably in abysmal working conditions and working in sweat shops.

      I think you are confusing the workers who make iPhones vs the artisans who make handwelted shoes. Sure they wont have the same wages as someone in the US or EU but most of the world doesnt. The people making these I am sure have a normal life and get paid according to their standard of living. Little workshops that make these shoes I can bet you are not the sweat shops you have been tricked into perceiving all that is China.
