    This was some really tasty playing. No shredding or anything crazy, just super tasty. Kudos to the guitarist.

      Agreed. Wish there were more demos like this instead of mindless shredding. Not hating on shredding, but you can't even hear the guitar's natural sound when you use tons of gain, so it's a bad way of demoing a guitar imo

      us custom shop modell are above 5000 bucks, Terrada modells from japan are above 2700 it´s perhaps not to compare with the other two modells very much difficult when you see at the body and the neck ist´s more like a cello or violin penguins are really exspensive ok when you´ve a rich guy why not but always be consend of scratches really not a workhorse

    Dear Gretsch, my dream guitar is a Penguin but my favourite colour for it is Cadillac Green and with gold hardware, but I haven't been able to find one for ages. Please find one for me that's in the UK so that I'm not stung by customs charges. Cheers 👍

    It's a 50's song your playing is inspired by but can't think of it. It's the song that plays to honor Ritchie Valens when his mother finds out on the radio that her son had been killed.

      Pro Jet

    This really was a well done video, here here! I agree with a lot of the other readers comments on the tasty guitar playing and the sound of the amp Etc. My favorite one was the Duo Jet in Cadillac green and I was surprised that I liked it even more than the fabled White 🐧 Penguin. And those pickups in the Duo Jet are single coils, amazing. Gretsch guitars are great instruments and have their own unique voice. I have a new G5220 in Casino Gold with the Broadtron pickups and I love it. Exceptional value and quality for $500 and something different...

      I’m with you. Each A to B I hear, I give it to the Gretsch. How to describe it, though? I keep thinking the Gretsch have more ‘air’ in the sound, more note, and more music. And looks to boot!

    I just bought a ‘59 reissue 6120 -that hallow body classic that Chet Atkins wowed is with. I had a 6120 years ago I traded in -the guy said to me “ brother,this things in mint condition. You’re gonna regret trading it in as soon as you leave like every other guitar player has!” I got to my car, turned around in a cold sweat realizing my mistake and some cat that was in there snatched it up as I walked out! He would’ve let me take it back after some discussion but I felt like it’d be a dick move( and bringing home 2 guitars instead of 1 would’ve taken some explaining to my wife! ) Lol Love Gretsch guitars.

      I had a George Harrison style Tennessean in the 80s, stupidly traded it and watched the price double. But that floating bridge ugh as soon as it was knocked the whole guitar was out of tune.

    BTW, a simple "Bar" bridge is much better with a Bigsby and was standard equipment on Gretsch guitars with Bigsbys in the day. Gretsch went to the "Space Control" roller bridge with Bigsbys later in, but it sucked a lot of tone and sustain and many people exchanged them for "Bar: bridges. No kind of adjustable bridge works well with a Bigsby as the saddles create too much friction for good tuning stability. Aren't those Dynasonics just killer?

      The cadillac green 6128 is an absolutely beautiful guitar to me, everything about it is perfect and I didn't even see the neck or headstock 😆
      I'd do (almost) anything to get my hands on 1 of those guitars. I haven't looked yet to see how much it is but I just know that it's going to be out of my price range 😢

    What amp are you using for the demos? I’m thinking of getting duo jet but can’t decide between single coil t Armand or the Filtertrons. As I already have a electromatic pro jet with blacktop ft’s, the single coil would probably give me best versatility eh?
    Can the single coils get pretty snarly like p90s? Thanks.

    How did you do that?, picking with your fingers then playing with the pick?

    • @samcity64
      @samcity64 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      check out how he tucks the purple/pink? pick between 2nds & 3rd fingers whilst plucking then slides it between 1st finger and thumb to pick at around 0:24 on the video. It takes practice but a useful technique!

    • @williama-d6
      @williama-d6 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      guitaralan1964 yeah it’s a cool trick i am a beginner guitarist so it won’t be easy practicing that

    • @samcity64
      @samcity64 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cool....there's various techniques....some players use 3rd and little pinky finger curled into the palm to hold the pick and pluck with thumb, 1st and 2nd fingers so I guess it's finding a way that works for you if you want to go down that route, good luck with it anyway and worth the effort for the extra versatility it will allow you in your playing.

    All sound good, but the CN model was a bit generic sounding. Sure it's a well built instrument, (ALL foreign made Fenders are) but the pick ups are lacklustre. Just sound like generic humbuckers. The neck was really muddy, the bridge was not bad however, as it HAD some of that Gretsch twang! A good set of TV'S would set it right.
    I thought the 1st 1 with the TV Dearmond style sounded the nicest.
    Nice axes for sure.

    WHY THE HELL DONT THESE COMPANIES OFFER MODELS IN LEFT HANDED??

    • @jeffjacobson59
      @jeffjacobson59 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same reason companies don’t make left handed pianos. I’m as lefty as you can get. Kick, throw, write, bat, punch with the left. I started playing guitar righty because everyone said it was easier. Most biological lefties are more comfortable fretting with the left anyway, so it makes sense. Since you started the way you did, you are at a disadvantage. Your body is geared backwards now. If you started learning.on a right handed guitar, you could’ve been fine after a couple of weeks.
