If you really think about the traditional food in Tonga it's Taro leaves and coconut cream, Tapioca, Taro, Yams and breadfruit and chestnuts fishes and sea shells. Cause that's what our great great ancestors ate. It wasn't chicken or lamb or canned food cause those are imported. Great video and i hope you did enjoy our beautiful Island.

You are absolutely right - that which the land and sea gives is the first and most obvious traditional food. We really did love your island, and you can thank Rachael for helping us see more than just pretty beaches. She helped us understand life in Tonga, not just how to be a tourist in Tonga. We were so impressed with how your community has persevered after the tsunami.

    Can she be contacted ?

I used to have her as a friend on Facebook but something happened to her account. While I was there, we talked about her setting up a website. Her husband is also a taxi driver. We were so fortunate to be able to just find them at the port. It’s a small island and everyone knows everyone. You could certainly ask and show the thumbnail. But I know that doesn’t help if you’re trying to have something locked in ahead of time. I wish I could do more to connect you.
