Everyone playing this game has to understand that this is an early access version. Right now the game is being scored strictly based on damage but we know that's not how it works when it comes to boxing. So whenever they start adding in punches thrown percentages you'll start to see the difference between boxers and wins and losses
I thought it was just me. I do boxing and i hit as hard as i can and still just barely do any damage. And to me it makes no sence since if it was a real life sparring many of the shots i deliver would knock a guy out or at least daze em.
Bro I feel your pain lol, Ive literally been experiencing the same things. The developers decided to go with a damage based system as opposed to a points based system. So that means that you can drastically outland your opponent, but if he "stuns" you and you dont stun him in return that round, he'll still win the round. Ive completely dominated guys and still lost smh. Just gotta hope the developers fix it soon.
The devs are trying to stop the spam boxers from spam fighting and winning. In real life, damage will score higher than the number of punches. Significant strikes will always get you more points than volume to a certain degree.
Even when I swing like an idiot I still do zero damage on the quest 2. I just can’t figure out how the game wants you to swing. My son can ko everyone he fights and when I watch him I just smh the whole time lol he knows better in a real fight but 😂 Big letdown going from the original to this
I agree with what you're seeing I've stuck with it and had 34 wins in like 28 losses so I'm not doing great and I'm losing to guys that are not athletic or able to box it all really. However I think a compromise would be having an escalated point system where the more jabs you land the more damage they do over time because I'm sticking guys 30 40 50 times in the face over three rounds or more and it like does nothing depending. There is a guy that has a channel called boxing fanatico He's really good combos are a key for power but I agree I don't think the power is right and it's very difficult to win even when you outbox people that just throw a couple haymakers.
sadly they can’t tell real power, but the faster you swing the harder your punch, and it’s also about form and accuracy, if you can have speed, form, and accuracy you will hurt them and you can tell when they’re hurt because their eyes start to squint or their character will make a face.
i was using real boxing footwork to avoid this guy who was spamming, i switched stance to southpaw and shifted and was dancing around my opponent, you can definitely still use technique.
@@19Craig99 yeah, in my second fight i lost against a hook spammer when i was on analog, and i decided i’d only play the game using room scale and i haven’t lost since.
Legit, I actually box in real life, and the early access feels off. I've been losing every match even when I'm clearly landing way more punches. It’s frustrating that I still haven’t managed to knock anyone out, no matter how clean or hard I hit them on the chin. Really hoping they fine-tune the mechanics because right now it doesn’t feel realistic.
Yes, i understand all the frustration from everyone with spammers to unrealistic damage, but this games isnt a "fail", it literally just got released in EARLY ACCESS it is by no means done so just give it time and the devs are working really hard to fix these issues.
I had to adjust my mindset and view it as a video game rather virtual fights. Of course damage is unrealistic, it's unrealistic in Super Smash Brothers as well. Now that I'm learning how the damage works I'm winning and yes I'm spamming but spamming is a great workout
Completely agree. When you go into the training and punch the dummy to test damage, it’s kinda all over the place. You can get more damage with a slow punch over a punch you turn your whole hip into. I do appreciate the devs listening to the players and updating rapidly though.
I had the match where my opponent stood there, ate big haymakers from me and didn't went down but when he tapped me once or twice, I got dropped. Definitely has a ton of room for improvement.
I read a reddit post from one of the developers saying that they have a power balancing system. Each round, your power gets toned up/down based on your average punch speed along with other factors. This resets every fight though. They need to get rid of that all together and just let us all whoop on each other.
Keep in mind it's early access and will still likely be in development for years to come. This is just the "rough draft" of a masterpiece, and they've already done a number of updates since release.
Having boxed in the orginal for many years i was very frustrated with this release. Rather than boxing it feels more like learning a new style of game fighting and I struggle with making sense of whats happening during the fight
Just to let you know the orange glow is just for you to see when and where you got hit. Only you can see it. The devs should add the orange glow for everyone to see
I don't agree. I think it would make the game look way too arcadey. I think they should just add swear particle effects or something. This is something they are looking at though.
My experiences with the game have been varied so far. I've had matches against players who jab and move realistically, but at times, I've sparred with what are called "Spammers," which really detracts from the game for me. Additionally, I'm not fond of the orange indicator for damage, and I miss a more distinct sensation when landing hits-it's hard to gauge their effectiveness. However, the developers appear to be actively working on improvements, so I'm optimistic that the final version will be outstanding!
@ they are developing a damage overhall where instead of having the perfect form, if the punch would hurt irl it would ingame As it’s in beta you can only test it on the dummy or custom matches by turning on a toggle (but I think it’s been disabled for a short while)
I thought I was the only one because this game really question my boxing skills so much I had to look up how to throw a punch because it’s like I wasn’t even hurting them
Thanks for sharing all. From what I gather, some but not all boxing skill transfers over to this game. For some, it’s possible the skills don’t transfer at all because you don’t punch the way Totf deems is “correct” haha. I saw a video where a champion boxer with 15 wins and 0 losses irl fought against a vr boxer in this game and lost twice. That tells me - you should take this game with a grain of salt lol. Clearly this guy would be better than the vr boxer irl, so it’s the game that’s inaccurate. That’s all to say, don’t take it too personally man 👌
Yeah the damage system is messed up right now, and there are some exploits that clearly favor people doing long slow windmill swings right now. On the Discord they've made it clear they're changing the damage system soon so hopefully that helps, and they're punishing people wildly swinging and doing more damage by making a counterpunch system that punishes no guarding and bad boxing. You'll probably kill it once the game gets there, right now its a bit silly.
Def a straight jab thru the middle does like 5 damage. Honestly i loose everytime. I just see it as cardio since every person is different, and i did it for 4 days straight, and i got sore that i had to take a few days off.
they're damage meter is broken they should be updating it today they also added counter punching yesterday the games still in early access and if you go to there page they have like 1 million updates coming in the future
In my opinion they released this early access far too early it has alot of work that needs done but i just copped it cuz i can see how good its gonna be when its fully released. If you havent play the first one it still holds up ill be playing it until this gets a major major update
The game determines Your strength by Your hardest swing . So If You swing really hard once It may make all of Your other punches weaker by comparison. Use medium strength . It's in "early release" ; They will be taking the players feedback to correct the experience before "full release" .
@@mrirving120 You can on the first game so I am assuming You can on the second. They allow You to change the minimum and maximum values in the options.

Maybe it was a little early to make it public or it should have been made more clear, that it's early access (maybe a big fat splash screen). I am very confident that it will eventually turn out to be a very fine boxing game.
Yeah, it was clear when I bought it was early access. I think its less that the game isn't fully cooked its the crush to my ego losing so much. I'm hoping the updates will fix the issues.
how it calculate damage right now it's just a bad system and they're changing it. right now you can hit as hard as you can but if you don't twist your body when your punche it won't do any damage

The fundamental issue is that the Quest does not have body tracking so it will never be able to accurately calculate the power in the punches.
