Fantastic show and great singing artists as well . Love Porter Wagner and I also his fabulous Suits .. Would love them to come back again! I have two Sons and they were both brought up on Country Music! I had my Son, Wife and two Grandchildren .. My little Grandson who is only 2 1/2 years old and I couldn’t believe what he said to his Dad , can you put my music on and I hear George Jones Singing 🎤 I listen to the music all night long brought me back to my Radio Shows when I was a DJ so hard to think at his age that he loves Country Music!! I love Mel Tills and my favourite singer is Stonewall Jackson, play him everyday for my playlists I have made on Spotify .. Alexa is fantastic to have, she will play anything for you!! Dolly is one awesome singer too .. Thanks for a fantastic show Mr DJ .. Love my Country Music till I die 🎤🎸🎶🎵🌟💯
Stonewall Jackson is a favorite of mine. He has one of the best voices ever for country music. So authentic. And he wrote a lot of great songs. "Washed My Hands in Muddy Water" is perhaps his best of many.
Here in NC on Saturday night there were three shows that we always watched. Porter Wagoner, Flat and Scruggs and the Wilburn Brothers. I don't remember the order. At some point I had to get dressed in my formal outfit so I could go out and play. I played bass in a local rock and roll band and I would watch these shows fully dressed to perform until I just had to go. Country music back in those days was written mainly for the older generation but I enjoyed them just the same. I am now 68, and I still play but there is no music written for us now days. I'm sorry for that.
Saturday was the day for the Country music shows. I looked forward to them every week as a kid. Porter Waggoner and the Milburn Brothers Show. The Grand Ole Opry Show. They were all so great.
Thank you LesterAnderson for posting the porter wagoner. Show ! It’s nice to see these singers that are now gone except Dolly. She is still going strong at 75. and she is better than ever ! Here Dolly is in her prime. Such a beautiful young lady ❤️❤️❤️ Mel Tillis the stuttering boy when he talks but singing you don’t hear it and stonewall Jackson he was a great entertainer too
I played music with some of stonewall Jackson's road musicians in the 80s .Charlie Burchell and Russell williford. great pickers. we had some good times.
THANK YOU LESTER Absolute CLASS. Brings back many fond Memories of when I was a child and my mother who was a Truck Driver and listened to this Great Music all the time. Thanks again and God Bless.
This takes me back to my childhood in the mountains of Leslie County KY. We had a TV antenna at the top of the mountain with a booster....when the antenna was positioned just right and the weather was good we'd get all 3 network channels from Knoxville TN. I loved watching the Porter Wagoner Show, Cas Walker, Hee Haw and the Bonnie Lou and Buster Show. If I could only go back to those wonderful days of my childhood!!
Grew up watching this and using Breeze Detergent! Granny made curtains from the towels that came in each box. If you watched the show you know what I’m talking about!
Dolly Parton what a superstar she has become. Has come a long road from Porter's show where she got her first real exposure. Later got into a legal dispute with Porter.
all true..........very misguided....... no home training......no man to impose discipline.....all of mine are all very successful professionals.......who contribuate to our country......young folks sit at hom all day eat chips and drink sodas and blame our country for their disaster in life...could say more but we all know the truth........
MAGIC...Buck Trent warping those strings on the opening number! I've trying to get a non-vinyl cut of Slew Foot for years...the original recording that is?
I came here for the 70s acts like Dolly and Mel Tillis but I enjoyed Speck Rhodes(sp?). What year did the Porter Wagoner show start btw, if someone knows? Did it precede or run concurrent with Hee Haw? Fun show.
George McCormick was a legend in his own right. A rock solid rhythym player, he also worked with Wilma Lee and Stony Cooper, the Louvin Brothers and Grandpa Jones. The Wagon Masters were a great band, and George was a big part of their distinctive sound. Don Howser, by the way, was the announcer for the show.
Portor was so hateful. I will never forget the episode although the two pool playing professionals. He was going to teach them how to play pool. He grabbed up one of their $4,000 pool sticks. He got put in his place.
All the folks that I’ve ever heard that worked with Porter said he was a jerk. My dad grew up with him in West Plains, Mo. He said he was a jerk even as a kid. Lol
Dolly I hate that super bad song ..I see and HEAR YOU COULD NOT SING THEN but you cheated an old Jewish guy out of money 🤑🤑🤑.. that takes some doing . Old Porter was Jewish
I remember as a child watching shows like this in the 1960S with my parents a classic time gone by a simpler time.
Our uncle George McCormick is the man playing guitar with Porter and Mel
The greatest Country Show of All time there will never be another great performance like this ever again and there hasn't
Porter always seemed to have so much fun on his shows... Miss him and shows like his.
Fantastic show and great singing artists as well . Love Porter Wagner and I also his fabulous Suits .. Would love them to come back again!

Lester Anderson, thank you so much putting these Porter Wagoner videos up. Dolly Parton sings like an angel.
Stonewall deserves to be in the CMHOF. As good as any male singer in there.!
Very surprised He’s not in there
So true
@@bozbad Been thinking that for many years along with ya, and Ole Johnny Paycheck deserves a spot there also, in spite of his problems

And don't forget Hee Haw after 1969. What a lineup for Sat night country music. Those were the real country shows during 60-70s era.

Fantastic rendition of All My Friends Are Gonna Be Strangers. This really makes me miss the old style country music.
The great Mel Tillis . He will never be forgotten or replaced love this. Man and his music. Singing in heaven now. God always takes the best.

All the Wagon Wasters are so talented and greatest entertainers. What a great band. Pity Can't find one like them anymore. 💓💋

MAGIC...Buck Trent warping those strings on the opening number! I've trying to get a non-vinyl cut of Slew Foot for years...the original recording that is?
Wow Dolly!
Good wholesome entertainment I used to watch it all the time. Not like the low grade trash on TV in some cases these days
I would watch all of this if it was in focus. What's the matter with these old videos all fuzzy.?
show me the videos
That song that Spec sang was a song by Jimmie Dickens.
country soul train
I don't remember ever watching the Porter Wagoner Show in color.
I came here for the 70s acts like Dolly and Mel Tillis but I enjoyed Speck Rhodes(sp?). What year did the Porter Wagoner show start btw, if someone knows? Did it precede or run concurrent with Hee Haw? Fun show.

Who's the guy playing acoustic guitar and harmonizing with Porter. He calls him Don. Don who ? Anybody know?
+Scott Beard See above Scott. hope this helps.
+Tim Mercer I missed the introductions at the beginning of the video the 1st time I watched. It's Don Howser. Thank You.
+Scott Beard The high tenor who harmonized with Porter was George McCormick; he played a big f-hole Gibson.
+Tim Mercer Good deal.. Thanks again...
😁😁
who's the fiddle player ??
+Kurtis Mair Mac McGaha is the fiddler; he joined the show in 1966
+Tim Mercer thanks
I am glad to have been of some help.
Kurtis Mair the fiddle player is mac magaha
