They used to get into fights. But not anymore. The grand grand kids of those car owners are now well educated... and the cars were and still beautiful 😍. I love to see them around. Greetings from SD California...🎉🎉🎉
I lived on Division & Highland in National City during the 1990's. Everyone use to cruise highland or sit in the parking lots of the businesses and restraunts. Honestly, looking back It did cause a bit of a disturbance for the businesses. Especially for families just trying to get in and out and get some food or shop in the stores etc. There were some folks up to know good "gang members " "party crews" and others who would pop off right there and other places. This was also during a time frame of heavy gang activity in San Diego, & Police across all of San Diego County establishing Gang Units to crack down on Gang's,Colors,Associates and Affiliates of the above. N.C.P.D started giving ordinance and curfew tickets and arresting people who violated this. How do I know? I was part of it... Any way, The hottest night to cruise was Saturday. However if there was a car show like the "Low Rider Super Show" then it was Sunday. People could and would cruise whenever, Thurs, Fri, Sat & Sun. Highland Ave was the place to be starting at the Carwash till you hit the last 7'11 infront of Sweetwater Skating Ring. Good times... Thank you for lifting this ban.... Long time East LA RESIDENT I've been cruising since the 90s on Whittier Blvd This is part of our Cultura...Shauuuu!!!!
Being from southeast SD, I thought cruising was cool to do in the 70's, but now (regrettably) that lifestyle is a thing of the past. The time, cost and current gas price is just too much. I can only spectate nowadays
When I was 9, the low rider punks used to drink and get loud at Dolly Madison in Epsilon St. Shelltown on Saturday nights. Two losers climbed the roof of DM behind my duplex and jumped from the commercial roof to our roof and down on top of my Dad's Chevelle. They dented his car roof, bad. They ran away like little girls. My father was too intimidated to find out who did it. I went out the window with my fists and yelled at all of them. I told them some crazy stuff because I was from barrio Pico Viejo in L.A. I told them I would never forget their club's name. I forgot the name. Anyone know the club name that used to haunt Dolly Madison on Highland in 1977? Some fools owe my Dad 500. plus interest.
we fought them and fought them in the legal court system and it took many years to get our style here! nothing is free, we pay the legal system and courts lots of money. every car show event/s we have to pay permits and insurance everything that the law requires from our lifestyle. we pay our government system to be allowed to enjoy what we like. Lowrider lifestyle is our sport, like to others hot roding, or rat rod, or euro, or hybrid, etc. motocross, offroad, etc. surfing, to each our own lifestyles. respect goes a long way when we use it
Nope ! Watch its a political decision. I love Old Cars . Drive By Culture? Early eighties lived in San Diego and use to watch and it WAS Cool. Worry about crime in National City in 2023. Prostitutes Roam Freely. Change the Law or Enforce the Law!
I have zero problem with lowriding, so long as they don't clog traffic by crawling along on busy streets. If you want to see and be seen, then pull over and do it safely like the rest of us.
Good the low riders. The other communities in san diego need to rise up also, like the mission bay bathtub races, real surf culture needs to come back, not the hybrid baloney we got now. Bring back some cool colored wetsuits and boards.
I supposed you, the Socialist, expects our government to somehow do this? How about pass a law mandating diverse colored wetsuits and boards? If there are to many red boars on the water we'll have a new police force to go out and tell a surfer they have to change or leave. Sound good? But the color blue is oppressed, so in proper equitable fashion we'll allow more blue boards in the water as a symbol of solidarity for the oppressed blue color.
Lowrider por vida here with mis dos bombas! and our Lowrider sport worldwide! viva la Raza! we all have our different sports this is our sport. respect goes a long way when used so let's use respect for each other
I am happy things seem to be getting better 🎉
There has been a ton of peace in national City I can only hope it doesn't go bad only hope
Why were they banned ??
They claim Gang Activities.
We all know it's a lie.

Because they’re thugs.
@@abigailmartin1326 Not anymore because there WAS a ban on cruising!

As long as they're just riding and having a good time, they shouldn't have to be asking for "permission "
Freedom!!!

So are the vehicles required to obey all traffic laws and equipment laws everyone else has to obey?
