      No. Complete bollocks. If it can ridden like a normal MTB then it should be able to be washed like one. Pull back from the marketing nonsense a little if you want to retain any credibility is my opinion.

      We get it sponsored content pays your bills. Nevertheless, if you keep pushing the frame like here, your credibility will decrease accordingly. Your are kind of lucky that you seem to be headquartered in the UK. In the EU there would be a very high chance that this episode violates the EU guidelines for advertising/product placement.
      Thanks a lot for all the great content you are providing.

      I get different, contradictory advice from every video, yours included. Some tell me to remove the battery, some say leave it in. I could go on and on and on at how the Ebike industry gives shit advice about how to clean a bike....and here you are, pushing your sponsors products. - When you buy and Ebike, there are a hundred people like YOU saying, "YOU NEED THIS" "YOU NEED THAT" and then another video says, "YOU DON'T NEED THAT CRAP." - I'm thinking you're all full of shit, trying to make money off of people who just love biking.

    I like to use a garden pump spay, less pressure than a power washer and I keep track of how much water I'm squirting over the bike.
    with a hose you can use 25-30 Later before you realise.
    Wet, spray bike cleaner, wait 5, rinse. As I use chain wax, no degreaser needed, just rinse and dry. Any chain noise and I know it's time for cooking chain again. Normally 2-3 rides.

    Good vid, but what Techniques, Do’s & Don’ts, and Products do you recommend for eMTB’s with more delicate Matte Paint finishes which are easily stuffed-up with too much brush contact and some cleaning products? Some if the Big Name Bike manufacturers don’t even cover this Matte Paint Care aspect in their manuals... “Specialized” I’m looking at you in the naughty-corner...
    (Nice looking finish, but somewhat impractical on an MTB of any type.

  • @jumbleross

    Hi Guys, love watching the vids, they are really useful and sometimes entertaining! I have 2 questions for you. Some peeps on the internet suggest using an air compressor to dry off your bike after cleaning it, especially the motor and controls. Common sense tells me not to use it on things like pivots and other areas with grease and to reduce the air pressure but I would like your views on this, it seems to make sense especially if your store your bike in a garage where, in the winter it wouldn’t dry quickly? I have just got a Trek Rail 9.7 and loving it but I also got to thinking what do you do if you have a crash and bust your Purion display? Is there a way to activate the motor or is it leg power only 🤔 Keep up the good work chaps #askembn

    • @eriknash8783
      @eriknash8783 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Air compressor is fine, just use the built in regulator to reduce air pressure down to 30-40 psi and keep the nozzle at least 12 inches away from the targeted area. You should only be doing this to displace pooling water. For those of you who live in a wet climate, I suggest bringing the bike indoors and using the heat or AC of your home to get a complete drying. Just have a dedicated mat or towel to put the bike on and protect your floors.

  • @G1manime
    @G1manime ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thank you! I like the color of your bike. Your shirt is also cool. I thought it was a planeteer shirt.
    Unfortunately, I have a bike with an exposed battery so I don't think I'll be able to use power or hose washing. I have a HeyBike Mars.
    In fact, I am finding a lot of disadvantages to the frame style. I can't fit a u bar for locking around it and the fixed structure Im locking it to.
    But back to washing, what kind of soap did you use. Can I use dish soap? Do you use the soap for a car?

    I bought myself a $12 (Aud) 5 litre pump up weed spray bottle from the hardware store, filled with fresh water - you pump it up by hand to pressurize. I wash my bike off straight after my ride with the fresh water, a tooth brush (drivetrain), a brush from a dustpan (everywhere else) with some white lightning bike wash detergent. I then take off the battery cover before I drive off and the airflow from the drive home dries the bike completely! When I get home, chuck a bit of dry lube on the chain and it's all ready for the next ride👌

    Strip the cables and the derailers!!! Internal electric shifting with a long lasting carbon belt. In a full power EMTB, it only makes sense. Where’s the electronic hydrologic brakes with a localized master cylinder at? Why don’t all e-bikes (save race/downhill) have integrated lights and charging ports? I mean, they’re electric right…?

    Terrible advice washing the whole bike with pressurized water. I would never pressure spray or use water on the battery.

      Marco Paganotto yes. Unfortunately this video is mostly a muck off ad and demonstrates some things that could damage an emtb.

    You are standing there telling people that’s it ok to use a power washer because its by muck off whereas other ones aren’t. It’s either safe or not. Simple,

      I've owned mid drive e-mtbs since 2015....only once early on did I leave the battery on when cleaning...had charging problems for the next few weeks...with the charger flashing indicating a problem with the battery.
