Just bought one of these two weeks ago and I’m super impressed. Tested it against my PVM and it’s less than a frame lag for me too. The one I bought is slightly smaller (15.9” and 1080p) but it was also less than $80
I bought one of these a while back and have found more use with the mister than anything else! It’s perfectly acceptable for a sit down and play sort of gadget
i use a 144hz monitor like this as my second monitor on pc. clears up a lot of desk space and is great for mister when the power goes out. doesnt take too much power to run so i hook it up to a battery backup along with the mister. i use the arzopa 15.6". it's only $130 at the moment but not 2k like this one, only 1080p but has great pixel density because of the size
lol. it goes out whenever we get strong winds because of all the trees and old school power lines. only happens a few times a year but mostly in the same 2-3 month span. it sucks but at least i have the battery backups. i just got an analogue pocket and it can play shrek on the gba core so now i have something to watch🙂 @@VideoGameEsoterica
6:35 That game is awesome. So glad to see it part of the M2 Shot Triggers line. Also, I take apart my portable monitor’s cover to sit on a tablet stand so I can have it in TATE mode.
Thought it would be more discounted in my country but it's the same price. I do wish this had the bells and whistles of other monitors of this price like touch screen and 4k. It's interesting that they're finally making > 60hz panels on these things. Will probably buy the Rokid follow up if ever
I'm going to pay $700 and get a big 120Hz later this year probably. It's absolutely not needed, atm. I'm quite happy with my mounted TV, and even without BFI, it's very nice. I also don't have a RetroTink 4k. March 9, 2024...
@@VideoGameEsoterica I didn't mean to be obnoxious about spending '$700', it's just something that needs to be done for the best end-result. And, I'm a videophile, so I'll enjoy it.
That monitor is my daily driver. All my monitors are portables. UPERFECT is generally pretty good though one of their 16in 2K monitors I have acts weird sometimes with input resolutions besides the native and the 180 degree rotate ends up fuzzy. Got the 18in one as a substitute and it's fine. I also have their 4K OLED which is decent but when used in gaming it can pull too much power when the screen goes all white suddenly and goes out for a few seconds.
I too are one of those people who has a cable for everything lying around 😂 Have a mini HDMI cable as I bought one for the NeoGeo mini, even though that thing looks horrible on a TV. Informative review👍🏻On the go Tate, that's hardcore!!🤪
Glad you enjoyed. It’s a legit monitor. Both on the gaming front but honestly on the laptop front. Not having my inspector window always open in Resolve drives me insane when I’m editing on the go
@@VideoGameEsoterica I've had an extra usb monitor for my laptop for years and it's a great thing to have. My wife steals it all the time too lol Something you don't realize how much you'll use it until it's an option
Haha I’ve thrown this monitor next to me on a small table in the living room and played MiSTer while my wife watches tv shows I’m not huge on. Def a good use case scenario
When you're doing your lag testing of the screen, you expect a standard LCD (oriented in the chassis normally) to take 16.66 ms to draw the whole 60hz screen. When you measure the top and get 5.5ms, it means it takes approximately 5.5ms before it begins to draw whatever you sent it. When you measure at the bottom, it should take a lag-free monitor 16.66ms to draw the whole screen and so your reading should be consistent with your top reading (top reading 5.5ms+16.66ms~~22ms). Making multiple measurements aside from the top doesn't tell you anything extra. If it takes the very first line it can physically draw 5ms to get addressed, it's 5ms of lag. What multiple readings do tell you is if the panel is mounted in a non-standard way. For instance, a cheap i***** TV might have the panel mounted upside down in the chassis, but the panel doesn't care and so the image draws from bottom to top. That means your bottom reading would be the 5.5 and top would be 22 in that situation. You can also have fun stuff where a panel is mounted perpendicular to the chassis. An example would be a 16x9 handheld using a portrait screen. Now your screen can be drawing on the left or right of the panel first, meaning all 3 of your mrlaggy readings would come out the same. Vertical (or horizontal?) tearing on those 90 degree offset monitors manifests particularly uglily. TLDR: The bottom lag reading on a standard monitor should read predictably higher than a top reading with the exception of bizzarre panel mounting and crazy tech like plasma. Cheers
